The Bourbon Country® Burn is a three-day, fully-supported bicycle tour of the bourbon distilleries and Thoroughbred horse farms that make Kentucky famous. Explore quiet country roads and quaint communities en route to world renowned distilleries nestled amongst the rolling bluegrass hills of Bourbon Country®. Choose from 1, 2 and 3-day registration options.
Decide each day just how much burn you want to earn, with various daily distance options ranging from 20 - 100 miles, and make stops at up to nine different distilleries throughout the course of the event.
After the ride, back at Bourbon Base Camp, savor the flavor of smooth Kentucky bourbon from the same distilleries you biked to earlier in the day. Enjoy quality live entertainment as you mix, mingle and muddle with friends, old and new.
Distilleries visited include: Woodford Reserve, Buffalo Trace, Four Roses, Wild Turkey, Town Branch, Glenns Creek, Castle & Key, Hartfield & Co., and Bluegrass Distillers
Additional Bike Tour information can be found at http://BourbonCountryBurn.com.
With the Bourbon Base Camp at the Kentucky Horse Park as it's hub, the Bourbon Country® Burn spends three days visiting up to nine various distilleries throughout Kentucky's Bluegrass Region.
"Is it hilly?"
Well, it ain't flat. But it isn't mountainous, either. Let's put it that way. The longer distances will certainly be challenging, but everyone likes a challenge. Right? Plus, the change in terrain means your butt won't get sore from too much time in the saddle.
Central Kentucky is home to incredibly beautiful fields of rolling Bluegrass, world famous bourbon distilleries, and world class Thoroughbred horse farms. We like to describe most of the terrain as "rollers," but it all depends on what you are accustomed to riding. Most of the "rollers" see 60 - 80 feet of elevation gain over a distance of a quarter-mile to half-mile or so. There are a few longer climbs, especially around the Kentucky River, that stretch on for about a mile, with short sections of 10% - 12% grade. Most grades a in the 6% - 8% range.
Round here, we like to say, "You gotta earn The Burn, to savor the flavor."
Tent camping at the Bourbon Base Camp is included in the registration fee, so pitch a tent and don't miss a minute of the fun!
**NEW FOR 2019** ALL RVs AND CAMPERS MUST MAKE A CAMPSITE RESERVATION, EITHER WITHIN THE BOURBON BASE CAMP OR THROUGH THE KENTUCKY HORSE PARK CAMPGROUND. (see details below)
As The Burn continues to grow, space is at a premium at our venue, the Kentucky Horse Park Campground. As such, to accommodate all of our riders and the various means of camping accommodations, we have decided that all RVs and campers must reserve a spot.
This policy applies to RVs, camping trailers, pop-ups, roof-top tents and all other non-tent camping vehicles, regardless of size, class, or need for water/electric hookups. Basically, if what you are sleeping in has wheels, then you need to reserve a spot.
As usual, we have options for you…
During registration, choose your preferred RV camping option from the list of available ADD-ONs
Sites are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. You may request a specific site spot and we will make our best effort to accommodate that request, but we cannot guarantee that spot.
