Do I have to register to support the Race?

If you plan on attending the event, YES.  Registration fees are needed to cover the cost of materials and services for Race day. Fundraising monies and donations are used for our community programs.

If you do not plan on attending, you can still support the Race and receive your commemorative T-shirt via one of three ways:

  1. Have it sent to you by paying the optional shipping & handling when you register.
  2. Pick it up when you register at one of our in-person events.
  3. Register for Sleep In for the Cure® (see below).

PLUS, everyone can support the Race by making donations to the Race and/or in support of registered participants, as well as by purchasing tickets for our Chapman Auto Stores new-car raffle.

What if I cannot attend the Race on Mother’s Day?

Back by popular demand, our 2018 Race offers Sleep In for the Cure®, a great way for you to be part of our Race family and support the cause. Anyone can register for Sleep In for the Cure—whether you live in the area but will be out of town on Mother’s Day, or whether you live halfway-across the globe but want to virtually join loved ones in Philadelphia supporting our cause! As a Sleep In for the Cure supporter, you’ll have your Race number and T-shirt mailed to you (cost already included in event price). This way you can wear your Race T-shirt wherever you are, whenever you want, to start the conversation about breast cancer with your friends, family, neighbors, co-workers.... everyone! As a Sleep In for the Cure supporter, we also encourage you to use our online fundraising tools to help us reach our Bold Goal: to reduce the current number of breast cancer deaths in the U.S. by 50 percent by the year 2026.

Should I register my children for the Race?

Absolutely! We offer a special registration rate for children 12 and under. Registering your child(ren) allows participation in all of our general Race activities, such as the 5K walk/run PLUS our popular Kids for the Cure Dash to Make a Difference sponsored by Aldi and other kid-friendly entertainment and activities. We also offer youth-size Race T-shirts (while supplies last) so be sure to register as early as possible. Lastly, kids can fundraise too! Every year young people take pride in saving pennies, having lemonade sales, asking friends and families to donate and other creative ways to help support the cause—moreover, their success is making a huge impact on our ability to more save lives!

Am I required to fundraise/donate?

  • Make a donation of $125 during the registration process and enjoy our ice cream social on Race day, courtesy of ShopRite (donation must be made by April 15, 2018).
  • Register and collect at least $250 in donations and receive our official pink tutu to wear on Race day (fundraising must be submitted by April 15, 2018).

We encourage all participants to raise at least $250. Ask 10 supporters to donate $25, and you’ve done it. If all Race participants step up to this call, just what could be done with the millions of dollars raised for research and community programs impacting the lives of you and your neighbors! Leave no stone unturned and remember these additional tips for success:

  • Utilize employer Matching Gift Programs.
  • Remember: when you ask people to donate you give them an opportunity to increase the number of breast cancer survivors.
  • Customize your fundraiser page to share your story of “Why I Race”.
  • Open your emails from us for additional tips and ideas to ensure your fundraising success, as well as for special opportunities to win prizes and earn rewards for your fundraising achievements.

Where does the money go?

We keep 75 percent of money raised here at home to support our work in 15 counties. We contribute 25 percent to breast cancer research. Some of the ways your fundraising will make an impact through our work include:

  • Free services: mammograms, clinical exams, diagnostic services and treatment
  • Empowerment: education, awareness programs, and emotional and spiritual guidance
  • Support: survivors, co-survivors, caregivers, healthcare providers and the metastatic breast cancer community
  • Research: funding more effective, less invasive treatments, a better understanding of the disease and the search for the cure
