Yes. Based on your intake questionnaire, you will receive a training plan that you can follow from home if you choose.
Attending the group runs is 100% voluntary. Running with a group can provide support, comaradarie and you may meet your new best friend. You do not have to attend all of the Saturday runs to participate.
You do not need to be a runner to join the 5k Training. Walkers are welcome, and we will have pace groups every 30 seconds from 9:00 min/mile to 16:30 min/mile (that's 16 pace groups!). To reduce the risk of injury and to maximize your ability to complete the program, we recommend that you currently be able to walk, run/walk, or run for 30 to 60 minutes a minimum of three times per week. The program starts with a 30 minute run (includes walking or run/walking) and builds from there.
The minimum age for participation is 8 years old. Runners under 16 years of age need to have an adult with them. Please review our page on youth recommendations to determine if a 5k is appropriate for your child.
Stay active! Being able to walk or run for 30-minutes at a pace that is comfortable for you three times a week is a good base for this program.
