Lake Lure Sprint Triathlon

Saturday - August 9, 2025 Lake Lure, NC 28746 US Directions

Bike Course

*  Just keep focusing on those mountain views as you push through the 14 mile, one-loop bike course.
*  Participants will peddle through the countryside at the base of the Blue Ridge Mountains, finishing back at the same transition area.
*  No huge climbs on this course, but the first hill that cyclists encounter immediately after they leave the Rumbling Bald Resort will have some folks questioning that assessment.
The first hill is by far the longest and steepest, so keep that in mind.
*  Be VERY CAREFUL coming down the hill at the end of the bike course that brings cyclists back to the Rumbling Bald Resort - it is steep and winding.
*  Also, take care when coming down the final hill (once on the Rumbling Bald property) that leads back to the transition area - it is also fairly steep and has three speed bumps to
   negotiate.
*  No drafting! If you are passed you must drop back at least 3 bike lengths to be legal. You may then make a pass if possible.
*  Hard shell helmets must be worn and fastened before leaving the transition area.
*  Stay to the right to allow faster cyclists to pass on the left.
*  There will be directional signs at every turn on the bike course. Look for these directional signs. They are bright yellow with black arrows
*  Bike frame numbers that are provided must be attached to the top tube of the bike near the handle bars.
*  No headphones, earphones or any radio-type devices will be allowed.
*  There are plenty of volunteers and police officers along the course but ultimately it is your responsibility to know the course.
*  Stay safe. The course will be swept the day before and any road hazards will be marked.
*  Be careful on some of the descents as they are fast and will require early braking. Especially the one near the end of the Bike Course.
- At the very beginning and very end of the bike course you will ride over a couple of speed bumps. Be careful especially when returning from the bike since you will be on a descent at that point.
- We suggest driving the course so you understand some of the descents. There are some very steep descents so be cautions. Respect the mountain roads.
