FAQ

Competition

1. I am new to the sport, what can I do to prepare for the competition? 

Working on timed sets, pacing and technique are all important to training. We recommend reaching out to Las Vegas Kettlebell or an experienced coach for assistance. 

2. How long will I have between sets?

For Biathlon, lifters will receive a minimum of 45min between sets. For all other lifts, we will give a minimum of 30min rest. 

3. Can I use a weightlifting belt?

Yes, as long as you do not rest your elbows on it during the lift. You will be given a violation if you rest on the belt. 

4. Can I use wrist wraps?

Yes but they must be cloth. No plastic inserts are allowed. 

5. Are there any other clothing requirements?

Yes. the judge must be able see your knees so please dress accordingly. 

6. Will there be awards?

Yes, we will present certificates and announce top competitors throughout the event. 

7. Will there be be chalk available?

Yes, we will provide block and powered chalk 

8. Are headphones allowed?

No. They are not allowed during your set. 

9. What happens if I am the only one in my weight class?

Any weight class of less than 3 participants will be combined with the next highest weight class. 

 

Schedule 

1.When will the flight schedule be released?

The schedule will be emailed to lifters a minimum of 7 days before the competition and posted on the website. 

2.Will I be able to change my lifts after I register?

You may change lifts up until one week before the competition .

3. Will I be able to change my lift or bell weight on the day of the competition?

No, all changes must be made a week prior to the competition so that we may complete the flight schedules in time to send to all lifters.  

 

Ranks

1. How do I achieve rank?

Visit the Rank Charts tab  and look of the event you would like to compete in. Then find your weight class and the size of the bell weight you are lifting. This chart will show you how many reps you will need to complete to earn rank.

2. What ranks can I earn?

Rank 1,2,3. CMS, MS, MSIC

3. What organizations will I earn a rank with?

Both the AKLU and IKO ranks will be awarded

4. Can I lift any weight bell?

To qualify for rank, women can lift 8kg, 12kg, 14kg, 16kg, 20kg,24kg, Men can lift 16kg, 20kg, 24kg, 28kg, 32kg. Other weights will be available and can be chosen to lift but will not achieve rank. 

5. How do I qualify for WKSF Team USA?

You will need to achieve a minimum of rank 1 with a qualifying bell weight and lift. Click here for more info.

Violations/No counts

1. What is a no count?

A no count occurs when an aspect of the lift is not demonstrated, for example, no fixation in the overhead. 

2. What is considered a violation?

touching the bell with your free hand, Taking an extra swing, resting your elbows on your belt, resting the bell on your shoulder, or dropping to rack during snatch

3. What will happen if I commit a violation?

You may receive a no count, be asked to switch hands, or be asked to stop.

4. What happens if I choose to stop my set early?

You will receive a score based on all good reps counted before you put the bells down

 

Venue Info

1.Are children allowed?

They are encouraged! We offer a kid's division and would love to see your kids lift!

2. Will there be water onsite?

Yes, there is a water refill station and water for purchase will be available. 

3. Will there be food onsite?

Yes, we will have vendors selling protein treats at the gym, There are also a wide variety of restaurants within walking distance. 

4. Will there be a showers onsite?

Yes, but you will need to bring your own towel and toiletries. 

 

Policies

1.Do you offer refunds?

No, if you are unable to make the competition you may transfer your registration to another lifter by emailing kettlebellvegas@gmail.com. You may also roll your registration fee to a future event. 

2. How can I make changes to my lifts after I register?
