New Date: July 25, 2020
As the situation regarding COVID-19 continues to evolve across our local community and beyond, restrictions continue to be in place regarding mass gatherings and public events. On May 20th, Baltimore City Mayor Jack Young announced that all permits for events larger than 250 people had been revoked through August 31st. Based on this order, the Sole of the City 10k will not take place as a physical event on July 25th.
I am disappointed that we will not get the opportunity to be together. I looked forward to the smiling faces rounding the final turn into McHenry Row; the crowd gathered in front of the stage to listen to a great band; and the friends swapping stories about how their race unfolded. At the end of the day, public safety and the well-being of our community is a much higher priority.
Current registrants have been sent an e-mail outlining the options they have for their 2020 race registration, including switching to our virtual event or deferring to the 2021 race.
While a virtual event cannot replace the joy of racing together, we are excited to offer this opportunity to compete virtually and enjoy the swag you've earned. Runners participating in the virtual race will submit their time online and compete for overall and age group awards. Along with seeing how you stack up against the competition, virtual runners will also earn a $15 credit toward the 2021 Under Armour Sole of the City 10k presented by KELLY!
We understand what a change in the race date means to runners who have already registered. We are runners ourselves and have personally felt the disappointment when events we’ve chosen to participate in have been forced to cancel or postpone. In this unprecedented time, our goal is to be as flexible as we can given the constraints we are under. This has been a challenging time for our community, and we greatly appreciate your understanding as we work through this process together. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us at email@example.com.
The 2020 Under Armour Sole of the City 10K presented by KELLY is now VIRTUAL!
Sign up for our virtual race and run 10k from wherever you are! You can select the premium or non-premium option, and you'll receive a finisher medal to show off your accomplishment. Training for the Under Armour Sole of the City Virtual 10K presented by Under Armour starts this Saturday, May 30th!
This 8 week training program will be entirely virtual and led by one of our experienced coaches. You can expect weekly training plans and access to your expert coach via email. Plus, weekly motivation and running education sessions along the way.
Awards will be given as follows:
Top three overall males and females
Top male and female in the following age groups: 11 and under; 12-15; 16-19; 20-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60-69; 70-74, 75-59, 80 and over
If you intend to compete for time-based awards you will need a method of recording your time and distance - a GPS watch, phone app (MapMyRun, Strava, etc.), or a treadmill. To maintain the integrity of the competition as best as possible all award winners in each event must submit photo proof of GPS/run data to verify time and distance (photo of treadmill with time & distance, photo/screenshot of run tracker, etc.). Award winners will be emailed when the results submission period closes and asked to reply with their photo/screenshot. Placements are not final until overall and age-group winners in each race have been verified. You must run the full distance of the event in order to qualify, so for our purposes that is 6.2 miles for the 10k. If a performance cannot be verified, the award will roll down to the next participant.
We allow transfers up until two weeks prior to race day. The deadline to defer your entry to 2021 is June 12th at 11:59PM. If you choose to defer your registration until next year, we will send you a registration code post race that can be used to register for next year race. You may do both by going into your profile on runsignup.com and choosing manage registration.
Please review the Charm City Run Weather and Event Cancellation policy here prior to registering for this event. If you have any questions about the policy please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org prior to registering.
