We are excited to announce the second race of the 2020 Maryland XC Series! Complete information on the event can be found below, and any questions can be sent to email@example.com. We hope you'll join us!
Online registration is available up through the beginning of the race on October 11th, and is the preferred method of registration. Based on availability, limited in-person registrations will be accepted at packet pickup and on race day. If the race reaches capacity no additional entries will be accepted. The number of entries currently available is displayed under the division above.
Based on the demand for this race we have added a second race on 10/11 beginning at 10:00 AM. We will follow the same format as the 9 AM race, but this second session would allow another 250 kids to participate. The second race has been converted from a waitlist to a regular entry division, so if you register for the 10:00 AM race your credit card will be charged at that time and your entry confirmed.
If you have questions about the second session please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we'll be happy to help!

Traditional cross country races feature a mass start on an extended starting line. Due to COVID-19 we have opted to split the start of the race into waves - there is no mass start. Runners that sign up and join a team will start together with their team and be assigned a wave number closer to race day. Runners that do not join a team will receive their wave assignment in an email closer to race day as well. On race day, runners are free to warm up on the property as needed and should remain socially distanced. The starter will call individual waves to the starting line beginning at 9:00 AM where teams/small groups will be sent off in a staggered format. This process allows for separation between groups and less congestion on the course. All runners will receive an official chip time.
The race will be held rain or shine.
We understand that many high school and college athletes will not have the chance to compete as a team in cross country this fall. We want to try and solve that problem by introducing a team competition! Athletes can form teams of 5 people to compete against other teams in their chosen division (middle school, high school, college, and open/mixed). Only teams in the open/mixed division can have a mix of ages and/or genders. We will score complete teams (5 people) by cumulative time (the total time it took each member of the team to complete the course).
The course will be 3.1 miles (5K) for the MDXC Series - Hunt Valley race. Runners will run on grass throughout the property, so spikes are acceptable. The course begins on the interior of the race track and follows a mowed path around the scenic Shawan Downs property finishing at the race track finish line.
We will give out awards as follows:
We take health and safety very seriously. Based on guidance from the CDC and local health departments we have created the following operating protocols for MDXC:
The Maryland XC Series (MDXC) was created to give athletes an opportunity to compete in cross country races around the state. With the cancellation of many fall athletic seasons and open competitions, the need to bring runners of all ages and abilities together safely was evident. Charm City Run and the Live Give Run Foundation have prepared a race environment that will allow for safe and exciting racing action among individuals and runner-created teams. We hope to include 4 races in the series, and will continue to update information as additional dates and locations are confirmed. We look forward to welcoming everyone this fall!
