Join us for the 10th Annual Storm Runners Race featuring a 1 mile fun run and 5k run/walk on the beautiful cross country course at Shepherd of the Lakes Lutheran Church and School. Race to benefit the: SHEPHERD OF THE LAKES SCHOOL “STORM”
New this year the race will be held on Sunday afternoon starting at 3:30 pm. The race will feature an open start line from 3:30 to 4:30 pm.
How does the open/flexible start line work? Start the race any time between 3:30 pm and 4:30 pm. There will be no crowded mass start. Keep an eye on the start line and begin your race when it is free of other participants. No more than 5 people will start at a time. The start line will be wide, and the space is very open to allow for proper social distancing. You do not have to feel rushed to get to the starting line. Start your race when you are ready. Timing does not start until you cross the timing mats.
COURSE: Cross country type course including trails and fields with slight hills. Race is chipped timed.
RACE DAY REGISTRATION: At Start/Finish area starting at 3:00 pm.
PACKET PICKUP: At Shepherd of the Lakes Church. Pre-Race: Sept. 18, from 8 - 9 a.m. & 3:30 -5:00 p.m.;
Race Day Sept. 20, from 9:30am to 11:30 or 3:00 pm.
AWARDS: Medals to all finishers, Trophies to top 3: Male and Female in all age groups listed below. Must be present.
AGE GROUPS: 1 Mile Fun Run: 6 & under, 7-8, 9-10, 11-14 5K Run/walk: 10 & under, 11-17, 18 & over Male and Female, Male and Female overall
REGISTRATION INCLUDES: Commemorative race T-shirt, post-race food. Shirts not guaranteed for late entries (after Sept.9th).
PARKING: Available at Shepherd of the Lakes Church & School parking lots, please no parking on grass.
This race is endorsed by The Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness and part of the Michigan Fitness Foundation Challenge. The challenge encourages Michiganders to engage with events that promote physical activity, health and wellness. You will receive a FIT point for every endorsed event you participate in or volunteer for from January 1st until December 31st. Points earn cool swag and a chance to win various prizes!
