ABOUT THIS EVENT
Ten years ago two men had a vision of a run/walk with people from all over the Kalamazoo area to celebrate the start of spring, celebrate the fun of St. Patrick’s Day and bring people together and focus on their health, while also helping the athletic programs at Hackett.
That run took shape out of the dedication of Brian Malony and Tim Kozal. They found the volunteers - students, parent and friends to make it a reality. Each year The Shamrock Run has grown and has become a cherished event for area runners and many others.
The USAT&F certified 5K course highlight the Bronson neighborhood in Kalamazoo and include mostly flat paved city roads, road closures will occur as appropriate.
Sign up as a Shamrock Team or a School Team and receive special pricing.

In collaboration with West Hills Athletic and Dre Ballines this year we will have a Pump and Run division.
A unique combination of weight lifting and running, offered to all racers no matter what age or gender! Participants will have the exact same running experience as standard registrants, but compete for additional awards! Participants will bench press a percentage of their body weight, based upon an Age and Gender handicap, and earn a 30-second time reduction for each bench press repetition The maximum time reduction will be 15 minutes for the 5K (i.e. 30 reps). The 5K a participants use the same weight lifting formula as other Pump N’ Run’s around the country. Many awards are offered, including Fastest Net Run Time (i.e. Actual Run-time less handicap), and personal levels of weight lifting achievement such as Bronze Medal (10 Pump Club), Silver Medal (20 Pump Club) and Gold Medal (30 Pump Club).
NOTE: After weighing yourself, you will round your body weight down to the nearest multiple of 5, and find this weight in the left hand column. Then read over to your Age Group Column. The Bench Lift-Weight is in Black. Ignore the Curling Lift-weight in RED, there will be NO CURLING at this event!
