Description
The Step by Step Run race route begins at the intersection of Northwood Blvd. and Roseland in Royal Oak (48067). The race is a USATF certified 5K run and 1.5 mile Fun run/walk hosted by the Shrine Dads' Club. *Note: The 2024 race will follow an alternate route due to construction on Northwood Blvd. and Crooks Rd. Venue opens at 7:30am and race begins promptly at 8:30am. Registration for the 5K and 1.5 Mile timed events closes at 5:30pm Friday October 4th. You can register for the 1.5 Mile Fun Run/Walk right up until the event.

What is the Step by Step Run?
The Step by Step Run promotes healthy living and supports social and recreational activities in the Royal Oak Shrine Schools and Parish Community. We encourage everyone in this community to participate by running, walking, volunteering, or simply cheering on participants!
Can the Step by Step 5K Run be walked?
No, the 5K run cannot be walked due to city restrictions, the 1.5 mile route is for walkers.
Is the Step by Step Run a timed race?
The 5K run and the 1.5 mile run will be a timed event organized by Rotpac Racing. Timing bibs will be issued to all registrants of these timed events. The 1.5 mile walk will not be a timed event.
What is the route of each race?
The 5K Run USATF Certified route: Begins on Northwood Blvd. at the Roseland intersection, travels east down Northwood Blvd. across Crooks to Vinsetta Blvd. heading east, loop back down Vinsetta, cross Crooks to Murdock/Lloyd back to Northwood Blvd. ending at Shrine Church.
The 1.5 Fun Run/Walk: Begins on Northwood Blvd. at the Roseland intersection, travels east down Northwood Blvd. to the last turnaround before Crooks Road and heads back west on Northwood Blvd. ending at Shrine Church.
*Note: The 2024 routes will begin and end at the Northwood and Roseland intersection, but will proceed along an alternate path due to construction on Northwood and Crooks.
Will there be awards?
All participants in the 1.5 mile kids fun run will receive a finisher medal. 5K runners that place in the top 3 in their age group will receive a medal.
Where will the proceeds from the event go?
The distribution of the race proceeds each year will be based upon the needs and recommendations of the School Administration and Athletic Directors in conjunction with the race coordinators. For 2024, our specific goals are to invest in more seating capacity at the High School field and additional classroom equipment at both the Academy and Grade School.

Where and when do I pick-up my race packet?
Please see the Directions below for our check-in location. Please pick up your race packets on Friday evening Oct 4 between 5:30pm and 7:30pm.
