3260 Relay Challenge – FAQs
🏃 Participation & Mileage
How long is the challenge?
Each region runs over 4–5 weeks. During that time, teams work together to complete the full regional mileage.
How many miles do I need to run or walk?
Participants typically average 15–25 miles per week. To remain active and eligible for rewards, you must log at least 3–5 miles per week.
Do I have to be a runner?
No! Walkers are absolutely welcome. This challenge rewards consistency — not speed or pace.
What if I can’t hit 25 miles one week?
That’s okay. Mileage is shared across the team. Stay consistent and communicate with your captain — teamwork makes it manageable.
Can I participate from anywhere?
Yes! This is a virtual challenge. Log miles from your hometown and help move your team across the map.
👥 Teams & Team Captains
How big are teams?
Teams typically have 6–10+ participants. The more people on your team, the lighter the individual mileage load.
How do I become a Team Captain?
When you create your own team during registration, you automatically become the Team Captain.
What if I don’t want to be a captain?
No problem! You can join an already created team or register individually and be placed on a General MS Run the US Team.
What does a Team Captain do?
Captains:
-
Encourage and motivate team members
-
Monitor team progress
-
Send reminders and celebrate milestones
-
Help keep morale high
They’re leaders and encouragers — not coaches.
Can we create our own team?
Absolutely. Invite friends, family, coworkers, or running club members to join you and move your region together.
🌎 What is a Regional Captain?
Each region has one Regional Captain and one Co-Captain.
Regional Captains:
-
Oversee the entire region
-
Encourage and support all participants across teams
-
Help drive registration, engagement, and fundraising momentum
-
Work closely with MS Run the US to gather needed assets and information
-
Communicate directly with the organization to relay updates and regional needs
-
Serve as the “big picture” leaders and primary connection between their region and MS Run the US.
💰 Fundraising
Is fundraising required?
Yes. Each participant commits to raising $250 to support the MS Run the US mission and individuals living with MS.
What if I’ve never fundraised before?
We provide email templates, social media graphics, and weekly fundraising tips to help you reach your goal.
Where does the money go?
Funds support awareness efforts, financial assistance, and programs serving the MS community through MS Run the US.
What happens if I don’t reach the $250 fundraising goal?
Fundraising is a core part of the 3260 Relay Challenge and directly supports individuals living with multiple sclerosis.
We ask every participant to make a genuine, consistent effort to reach the $250 goal. Most people are surprised at how achievable it is once they share their “why.”
If the fundraising goal is not met:
-
You will not be eligible to receive the official Regional Medal.
-
You’ll still be recognized as a participant for your logged miles.
We’re here to help. We provide email templates, social media prompts, and weekly tips to make fundraising simple and doable.
This challenge is about both movement and mission — and both matter.
📲 Logging Miles
How do I log my miles?
All miles are logged through your GiveSignup account under the “Log Results” tab where you will find directions on how to log your miles.
Can I sync my watch or app?
Unfortunately, no. You may only manually enter miles.
Can I log miles all at once?
We encourage weekly (and even daily) logging so you can see your region move in real time.
What activities count?
Outdoor or treadmill running and walking miles count toward your total.
🏅 Rewards & Recognition
What do I receive for participating?
All active participants earn a 3260 Relay Challenge sticker.
How do I earn the Regional Medal?
To earn the official regional medal, you must:
-
Meet weekly mileage expectations
-
Reach the $250 fundraising goal
-
Help your team complete the region
What if my team doesn’t finish the region?
Your miles and fundraising still matter. However, medals are awarded when team and individual goals are met.
🧡 The Big Picture
Is this competitive?
No. This is a team-based, inclusive challenge built around consistency and collective impact.
Can I participate in more than one region?
Yes! Many participants continue into additional regions after completing one.
