Fundraising Tips
Once you’re signed up, there are plenty of great ways to fundraise:
-
The first donation should be you own. An opening tally above $20 is a great start and leading the charge of donations by example has an escalating effect on the final dollar amount.
-
Set an easy goal and raise it later. Start with a goal of $100 (this is default amount) and once you hit it, raise the goal!
-
Talk about the fundraiser. Simply starting a conversation about the fundraiser and what inspired you to take part. Why you think it’s important enough to donate your time. Once you get your friends talking about fundraiser and get a few donations, you will see how easy it is to ask.
-
Share your story on your pledge page. The same things you would say while talking with friends, use the section in your pledge page to express your story for helping out. Making your story personal will connect with more potential givers.
-
Share your online fundraising page with friends and family via email, Facebook, Instagram or Twitter and let them know you are participating in the 1st Annual Miracle Miles of El Paso. Use the social media and email tools provided on your pledge page to get the word out about your goal.
-
Email asks can achieve more fundraising success than social. This is all trial and case by case, but don’t forget to ask by email.
-
Just ask! Your friends and family like to support you and the things that matter to you. Ask them to give just a little and watch it all add up!
-
Host a fundraiser of your own (bake sale, garage sale, lemonade stand, etc) and make that your donation!
-
Does your employer have a matching program? If so, see if they’ll match the funds that you raise or donate.
-
Share, share, share. Not everyone will see your post the first time you post, plus frequent reminders keeps your pledge drive in front of them and on their minds.
-
Ask for set amounts. You are more likely to get a donation if you ask for a specific amount… say $30, as opposed to $5 or $10 donations. Use the power of setting dynamic donation amounts. They work!
-
Have fun. Fundraising is not supposed to be a task. With a positive attitude, you likely to achieve high results and come back again and again.
