Zen Squirrel Virtual Running Challenge
Description
The 7th Annual Zen Squirrel Running Challenge returns this February. Continue those New Year goals with this healthy and fun personal challenge that will motivate you to RUN or WALK MORE in February.
The goal for this challenge is simple - run or walk anywhere and accumulate at least 28 total miles, over multiple efforts, during February. Want to do more? No problem, you can surpass 28 miles and complete as many miles as you can during the 28 days of February.
For each activity, track your distance, input your data to the online platform (super simple - see recording your miles), and watch your progress grow over the month-long event.
You can participate as an individual and also on a team of up to 10 people. Make it social - gather your friends (from anywhere), form a team, and see how many miles you can accumulate together. You could win awards!
REGISTRATION INCLUDES:
- A month of motivation to RUN or WALK MORE in February
- Sweet swag
- Soft/comfy tee - or upgrade to a long sleeve tee ($5), pom hat & scarf combo ($10), or hoodie ($25)
- A beautiful medal - large 3.5" medal that doubles as a drink coaster
- Warm head wrap/neck gaiter
- Digital badges for reaching milestones (more info HERE)
- A chance to win randomly drawn prizes during the challenge (drawings on Day 10, Day 20, and Day 28).
- Opportunity to earn extra swag by completing the EVERY DAY CHALLENGE, finishing in the top five (individuals and teams), and referring other participants.
- $5 per participant will be donated to the Breast Cancer Collective, supporting their mission to make screenings, diagnosis, and treatment accessible to everyone — regardless of income, insurance, or zip code. A GREAT CAUSE!

Earn Extra Swag
You can score Zen Squirrel swag throughout the challenge in four ways:
1. Consistency
Complete the Every Day Challenge by logging at least one activity every day in February and earn a bonus Zen Squirrel head wrap (new design).
2. Healthy Competition
Finish among the top five individuals or top five teams in total miles to receive a Zen Squirrel pom hat (navy) (all members of top-five teams earn one).
3. Referral Rewards:
Share your personal referral link (in your confirmation email) to earn:
- 1 referral: Zen Squirrel pom hat (Carolina blue)
- 3 referrals: Zen Squirrel car seat cover
- Every 5 referrals: An additional $25 donation to the Breast Cancer Collective (on top of the $5 per participant).
4. Bonus Challenges
Complete surprise bonus challenges announced on Day 10 and Day 20 to earn extra Zen Squirrel items (beanies, head wraps, stickers, etc.).
All extra swag ships with your included event swag at the end of the challenge. Shipping is included.
Charity Partner
With the Zen Squirrel Running Challenge, we’re raising funds and awareness for the Breast Cancer Collective and their mission to make breast cancer screenings, diagnosis, and treatment accessible to everyone — regardless of income, insurance, or zip code. A GREAT CAUSE!
We’ll donate $5 per participant, and you’ll also have the option to make an additional tax-deductible contribution during registration. Every donation — of any size — makes a difference. Also, we'll donate an additional $25 for every five friends your refer to the challenge. THANK YOU!
HOW THE CHALLENGE WORKS
1. Sign up
Register, choose your swag, and get ready to move! You can also create a team of up to 10—it's fun, motivating, and lets you earn extra swag and bonus donations for the Breast Cancer Collective when friends use your referral link.
2. Run or Walk & Track
Run or walk anywhere from 2/1–2/28 with a goal of 28+ total miles. Take as many outings as you need and track them using any GPS watch, phone, or other measuring tool.
3. Record Your Miles
Log into your RunSignUp profile, go to Results, and enter your distance after each run (you can also add time, elevation, and comments). All results must be submitted by Feb 28 at 11:59 pm HAST (4:59 am EST on March 1).
4. Follow Your Progress
Watch your progress bar grow with each entry and earn digital badges for milestones—total miles, number of outings, and consecutive days running/walking. At month’s end, download your digital finisher certificate.
5. Share (optional)
Upload photos from your activities for a chance to win prizes.
6. Celebrate & Win
Random giveaways happen on 2/10 and 2/20, with final prizes announced in a wrap-up email on March 1. All participants are automatically entered. Prizes (running gear, accessories, Zen Squirrel swag) will be mailed with your event swag after the challenge concludes.
