Registration for this event is now open!
It started in Tampa. We did it in Spokane and Orlando. And now we're doing it in Charlotte! The Charlotte 5k Pizza Run is here!
Here's how it works:
This is an EVENING event. It starts at 3pm and ends at 5pm. Every runner will consume TWO slices of pizza, but NOT all at once. You'll eat one slice 5 minutes before the start time, and consume your second slice at the "pizza station", about half-way through the course.
The first runner to cross the finish line will be crowned "The Pizza King (or Queen)" (<---- they get a special award!).
Why? Because everyone will run for pizza.
This event will happen at Mallard Creek Park.
What do I get?
Every finisher will receive a medal, t-shirt, an opportunity to interact with local sponsors, and an epic great time.
- A custom pizza medal (image to be posted at a later date, but believe me - you'll like the medal).
- An awesome race shirt to show off!
- Pizza King and Queen ceremony directly after the race.
- Free access to race photos.
- Pizza is included with your registration!
What's Allowed?
- Strollers and wheelchairs are allowed on this course, but participants MUST stay to the right of the path to allow for passers.
- Service animals.
- Headphones are authorized, but we ask that you keep to a volume that allows you to hear race and park officials.
What's NOT Allowed?
- Pets (except certified service animals).
- Double-wide (or wider) strollers. At some points on the course, the path isn't wide enough for three adults.
- Skateboards, bicycles, tricycles, skates, etc...
- Bandits. If you're not wearing a bib at the finish line, you won't get a medal!
***For obvious reasons, this event is not certified. Runners WILL NOT receive a certified time. Bibs will not have chips on them. This is a FUN RUN!***
Allergy and Dietary Restrictions.
As much as we'd like to, we CANNOT accomodate for allergy or dietary restrictions such as gluten-free pizza. All of the pizza and food will contain cheese and gluten. At this time, we cannot make special accomodations for individual runners and spectators.
The Coronation of the Pizza King and Queen!
The first male and female runner to follow the Royalty Rules and cross the finish line will get crowned the 2018 Charlotte Pizza King and Pizza Queen!! They will hold this title until an incumbent beats them out the following year!
The Royalty Rules
- Eat a slice of pizza 5-minutes before start time.
- Start the race at the sound of the race director's horn.
- Stop and eat a SECOND slice a the pizza/water station about half-way through the course.
- Proceed and complete the course with a dashing finish!
No cheating! You cannot run and eat at the same time.
You don't HAVE to eat the pizza, but if you want to compete for the crowns, you have the follow the rules above. ALL runners will receive a finisher's medal and t-shirt.

We ONLY select local pizzerias. We believe in supporting the local economy and will therefore choose a small-business pizzeria. This year, the lucky pizzeria is non other than Farley's Pizza!

The Charity!
This event is benefitting Sassy Caps! They're a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Sassy Caps is a nationwide network of volunteers that make soft, fun hats and seatbelt pillows to donate to people receiving cancer treatment. They also sponsor and host local, free "Day of Sass" spa makeovers for women with cancer. Their mission statement is "to empower volunteers to connect with local cancer communities through service and love, and to make the fight against cancer a little bit sassier".
Become a Fundraiser!
Help them reach their fundraising goal!!! Become a fundraiser or join their team and make an impact on the community of those who could benefit from comfortable and cute hats while undergoing cancer treatment. You don't have to run the event to join or create a fundraising team (but you'd be missing out on the fun!).
