The August race is scheduled to be held with many safety precautions in place to comply with state and local regulations and to prevent the spread of coronavirus.:
All participants and volunteers are expected to strictly adhere to social distancing rules, keeping at least 10 feet of distance from other people other than members of their family unit.
Masks should be worn when not running if you are unable to maintain at least 10 feet of distance before or after your race.
Please adhere to these event rules.
Registration will be capped at 50 people, with two waves of 25 runners that will be kept separate at the event.
Online registration will open at 6:00am on Augst 1 and will close at 6:30pm the day before the race. A waitlist will go into effect after the first 50 people have registered.
There will be no on-site registration for the race. You must pre-register at least 24 hours in advance.
We will implement a rolling chip-timed start. Each participant will be assigned a start time. Start times will be seeded with faster runners starting first. You will be asked to submit an estimated time when you register.
The first wave will start at 6:30pm and the second wave will start at 6:45pm. Both waves will have staggered starts with 15 seconds between each runner at the start.
Participants are asked to arrive at the starting line area no more than 5 minutes before their assigned start time and to keep a distance of at least 10 feet between each person prior to the race start.
Participants will retrieve their pre-assigned bib number using a no-contact system at a location to be determined. More information will be announced prior to race day.
Bibs will be available at least 30 minutes prior to the race start.
Participants are asked to stay on the right edge of the greenway when running except when passing and to allow plenty of space when overtaking others or for oncoming runners.
Participants must bring their own water/sports drink. There will be no race provided drinks.
Results will be posted online only - no kiosk or printed results.
Participants are not allowed within 10 feet of timing trailer or any other race volunteers.
Please adhere to these event rules.
The $5K Race Series competition will not be scored for 2020 and will resume in 2021 when we can have a complete race series.
The $5- 5k is designed as a low-key race for the athletes who want to run a tune-up race to prepare for their targeted event, the novice who may be intimidated by the larger events and runners/walkers who want an event to test themselves without breaking the bank.
Race Fee Notes:
The race fee is $5 and you must pre-register online.
Twin City Track Club Members will receive a full race discount of $5 for all $5 5K races - unlimited usage.
