Why Choose This New Year's 5K Race?

The Souhegan Lions Club has held the P'nut Butter Chip Chase 5K Walk or Run for nearly 50 years. This event began as a local New Year's Day activity and grew into a walk/run that around 150 people show up for each year!  It’s a cheerful and healthy way to start the new year with area runners and friendly lions club members.  Race scoring will be done professionally by North Star Timing. As is tradition, home made cookies and soup will be served during the awards and prizes ceremony. Please register and connect with us!

The P'nut Butter Chip Chase 5K Course

The P'nut Butter Chip Chase 5K course is a scenic country course with rolling hills. Many entrants make this race a New Year's Day tradition. With a noon start, it's even possible to bring in the new year and wake up in time to get to Chip Chase by late morning.

Less Single-Use Plastics = Free Cup of Hot Cider!

We now realize, in the twenty-first century, that we are using more plastics and recycling less of it. In fact, in 2018, only 8.7% of plastics were 'perhaps' recycled (this includes plastics sent overseas where they may not have been recycled). As stewards of our Earth's resources, we are taking a small step to reduce the use of single-use plastics by encouraging participants to bring and use their own reusable water bottles to the P'nut Butter Chip Chase on New Year's Day. When participants show their water bottle at the water table near the finish line, they receive a cup of hot apple cider.
