All In Person Events BEGIN AT 10:00AM

Online Registration Closes - 10pm October 27.

The proceeds from this event support HomeFront's year-round 6 day a week Joy, Hopes and Dreams children's enrichment, mentoring, and tutoring programming, which over 400 children who are homeless or have experienced housing instability attend in a normal year.  The Joy, Hopes, and Dreams program includes 2x per week tutoring, art classes, field trips, STEM, coding, music, sports and fitness, life skills coaching, and college preparation.  During the summer, we run Camp Mercer, which is a trauma-informed day camp for children, who because of the instability of their housing situations would likely not succeed at other camps.  We serve two nutritious meals a day, have academic enrichment each morning, fun activities and field trips every afternoon.  Importantly, our camp and year-round programs allow parents to work while their children are safe with us.  HomeFront's kids would not have these life-changing opportunities without your help, so thank you for WALKING or RUNNING.

Pricing - Registration for the 5K is $35 the weekend of the Event. Registration for the 1 Mile is $25 the weekend of the Event. The 5K is a timed event, the 1 Mile is not timed.

T-Shirts - Registrations after October 11 are not guaranteed a t-shirt, but extra t-shirts will be ordered so hopefully they can be provided for all registrants.

Make A Bigger Impact - When you register you will be able to create your own web page so you can ask friends and family to sponsor your efforts!  Please consider multiplying your impact on the lives of local children who are homeless by starting a fundraiser.

Form a Team - Invite your family/friends/colleagues to join a team you start when you register.  This year your team can be a mix of in person and virtual attendees.

Looking for a fun fitness challenge?  Try our Marathon Finisher EventRun or walk 23.1 miles over any period of time you choose PRIOR to the day of the HomeFront In Person 5K; track your accumulated miles at this link from now until race day and save the last 5K for the in person event.  Run or Walk your last 5K at the event and receive a MARATHON medal!  Be sure to select the 5K Marathon Finisher event if you'd like to participate.

Family Fun Activities at the In Person Event - Bring your whole family to the event.  We will have a Trunk-or-Treat, Costume Contest, Preschool 100 Yard Dash, Art Project, Fun Photo Area for Kids, a DJ and live bands.   The perfect way to kick off Halloween!

VIRTUAL EVENT DETAILS:

HomeFront learned during the pandemic that virtual events let people get involved, exercise, have some fun and show support even if they cannot attend in person.

Our Virtual Halloween Run/Walk will allow you to sign up as an individual or join any team and participate from home or anywhere you'd like.

Virtual Run/Walk Events Details -

  • Registration is Open until midnight October 31.

  • Print Your Bib - We will send you a link to your fun HomeFront Halloween bib so everyone you see while out on Halloween will know you're out supporting local children who are homeless.

  • Virtual Kick Off - On October 31 watch our "event kick off" video from wherever you are, starring HomeFront's adorable kids kicking off your Run/Walk or Dog Walk . We will send you the link a week before race day.  Then head outside for your run, walk, dog walk or onto your treadmill.

  • Take a Photo - Don't forget to post a photo of yourself/family/dog to our Facebook event page (extra points for costumes!!!).  Last year it was so much fun to see all the virtual participants' photos! We will send you the link for the event a week before race day.

  • Do The Monster Mash!  Last year we also LOVED seeing the videos our runners and walkers posted of themselves to our Facebook Event after they finished running/walking of them singing "We Are The Champions."  This year, we'd love you to take a video clip of yourself or family singing some of "The Monster Mash." You feel a little silly doing it, until you realize everyone who did it looks silly and it's so fun to watch!!

  • Optional: Post Your Results - Some people like to enter their times from their runs to RunSignUp or photos from their Strava App to have a record of what they did.  If you would like to do so, click this link

  • Virtual Events - You can Run/Walk a 5K or 1 mile, or complete a Marathon Challenge Event.  A Marathon Challenge means you complete the distance of a full marathon over time (a little every day or week).  This website will allow you to track your miles for your Marathon Challenge or post your results for your virtual 5K or 1 mile at this link.

  • T Shirts -  You will have the option to pick up or have a t-shirt sent to you if you'd like. More details will be provided as you register.  T-shirts will not be guaranteed unless you register by October 11.

  • Make A Bigger Impact - When you register you will be able to create your own web page so you can ask friends and family to sponsor your efforts!  Please consider multiplying your impact on the lives of local children who are homeless by starting a fundraiser.

  • Form a Team - Invite your family/friends/colleagues to join a team you start when you register.  This year your team can be a mix of in person and virtual attendees.

Posting Virtual Results

After you have completed your Virtual 5K or Virtual 1 Mile Fun Run / Walk, some people may want to post their time by clicking on this link.  This, of course, is completely optional.  After you post your results you will be able to upload a picture of the virtual run or walk if you wish.  Some people at this point might also want to upload a photo from a running app like Strava for their own record of their run.  The Virtual 5K and 1 Mile are non-medal events, since everyonoe is completing different courses.

For the Virtual Marathon Challenge, this same link can be used to enter each distance and time it took for each day you participated. RunSignUp will total your entries so you can see how much total distance you have traveled on the way to doing a Marathon (26.2 Miles ).
