Doggie Dash & Dawdle 2027

Join Animal Humane and hundreds of pet lovers for our signature event, Doggie Dash & Dawdle, recognized as Albuquerque's must-attend pet event.

Participate in a 5K dash, 1-mile dawdle, or enjoy our exciting Doggie Carnival, Watering Bowl featuring local brews, and Barketplace filled with local vendors. You can even stop by the Rent-A-Dog Tent to meet (and rent!) adoptable dogs. It's New Mexico's biggest party for pets & people for 44 years running!

Help us reach our fundraising goal of $200,000 to benefit the wonderful dogs & cats in our care and ensure they find forever homes. Every donation counts!

It's free to attend, spectate, shop the Barketplace, and enjoy the dog park! There are fees for our Carnival, Watering Bowl, run/walk, and Rent-A-Dog Tent, which can be paid in person at the event.

Packet Pick-up

Saturday

Join us for Packet Pickup on Saturday, February 27, 2027, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Gary's Room on Animal Humane's Main Campus: 615 Virginia St SE, Albuquerque, NM 87108. We highly recommend picking up your race bib, bag, and shirt on Saturday to limit delays on Sunday!

We don't recommend bringing your owned animals onto our Main Campus, but we encourage you to take a look at our adoptable cats and dogs while you are there!

Sunday

Packet Pickup will also be available on event day, Sunday, February 28, 2027, starting at 8:30 a.m. at Sid Cutter Pilots' Pavilion. Please bring your email registration confirmation with you for Packet Pickup.

Parking

Doggie Dash & Dawdle will take place in and around the Sid Cutter Pilots' Pavilion at the southeast corner of Balloon Fiesta Park. When navigating to Balloon Fiesta Park, please use the address for Sid Cutter Pilots' Pavilion: 4900 Balloon Fiesta Pkwy NE, Albuquerque, NM 87113.
The only parking entrance for Doggie Dash & Dawdle is off of Alameda onto Balloon Museum Drive. You will then take Balloon Museum Drive north, veer left, then turn right onto Magic Avenue, where parking attendants will direct you into the lot. Overflow parking will be at the Golf & Event Center at Balloon Fiesta Park, located southwest of Sid Cutter Pilots' Pavilion.

Registration & Packet Pickup

Registration for the 5K Dash will close at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, February 28.
Saturday Packet Pickup will be held on Animal Humane's Main Campus.
Day-of Packet Pickup will be available starting at 8:30 a.m. just outside of the Sid Cutter Pilots' Pavilion at Balloon Fiesta Park.

Race Information

The 5K Dash start is at 9:30 a.m., and the 1-mile Dawdle starts at 11 a.m.
The 5K is a chip-timed race. Awards will be available at the Race Officials' tent shortly after the winners are announced at the Main Stage.

Other Event Information

Bring a Bottle: In the interest of sustainability, we will have large water stations around the event for you to refill your reusable bottles - please do your part by bringing your own bottle! There will also be dog water stations available.
Activities & Pricing:
Doggie Dash is free to attend, and there are no parking fees.
Carnival Tickets are $10 per dog. We will be accepting exact change or credit cards at the Carnival Ticket Tent.
Rent-A-Dog will be $20 per hour.
Our Watering Bowl (Beer Garden), featuring Santa Fe Brewing Co. drinks, will open at 8:30 am. If you are registered to Dash or Dawdle and are over the age of 21, your race bib is your ticket into the Watering Bowl. If you did not register for the run or walk, there is a $5 entry fee. ID required for entry.
