AYOTZINAPA
(The place where freshwater turtles abound)
Ayotzinapa is a rural normal school in the central region of the state of Guerrero, Mexico. A school where its students are dedicated young men, who at the end of 4 years graduate as primary education teachers and are sent to rural indigenous communities throughout Mexico.
On September 26 and 27, 2014, the Mexican State, along with organized crime, murdered 3 of the students, 1 more is in a vegetative state, and disappeared 43 students. Seven years after the enforced disappearance, the 43 students of Ayotzinapa have not yet been found.

Born in NY, this is a platform for carrying a message with legs, and with heart in hand. A message of conscience and crying out for the return of the
43 young people, for justice, and punishment of the guilty. Together with hundreds of AMATEUR ATHLETES aware of what has happened, wearing a singlet in athletic races.

For the third time will present a 5K race in Prospect Park, Brooklyn NY. An official race with medals for all those who cross the finish, t-shirts and solidarity.

This 5K race commemorates the seventh anniversary of the forced disappearance of 43 students from the Ayotzinapa Teachers' College, and recognizes RUNNING FOR AYOTZINAPA 43 for their advocation of truth and justice for the Ayotzinapa 43 and for the more than 100,000 disappeared in Mexico.
The race intends to promote a dialogue and consciousness concerning human rights violations. It is not a fundraiser or for-profit event. There is no fee to participate. Sponsored by Running for Ayotzinapa 43 and Maquette Fine Art Services, Inc.

Es una escuela normal rural en la región centro del estado de Guerrero, en México. Escuela donde sus estudiantes son varones y se internan y al término de 4 años se reciben cómo profesores de educación primaria, los cuales son enviados a las zonas rurales de México.
El 26 y 27 de septiembre del 2014 el estado mexicano junto con la delincuencia organizada asesinaron a 3 de ellos y 1 está en estado vegetativo y desaparecieron a 43 estudiantes. A 7 años de la desaparición forzada aún no se han encontrado a los 43 estudiantes de Ayotzinapa.

Nace en NY, siendo esto una plataforma para llevar un mensaje con las piernas y con el corazón en la mano. Un mensaje de conciencia y clamando el regresó de los 43 jóvenes, justicia y castigo a los culpables. Junto a cientos de ATLETAS AMATEUR concientes de lo que a pasado, portando una playera en carreras atléticas.

There will also be a limited number of bibs available during bib pick-up at JackRabbit on the day before the race. If you would like to register in person, please visit us on December 18, from 12-6 pm, 151 7th Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11215, between Carroll Street and Garfield Place.
There will be NO race-day registration this year.

MEETING AREA, BAG CHECK, BIB PICK-UP
Bib pick up and bag check will be available at the Lincoln Road Lawn, midway between the start and finish, as indicated on the map. The start is near Center Dr. and the finish is near the Concert Grove Pavilion. The closest subway stop is the Prospect Park Subway Station on the Q line. Please arrive by 8:00 am for your bib on race day.
After the race, there will be refreshments, food, and awards at the tent location at Lincoln Road Lawn.

COURSE
The course is measured and certified by the USATF. The race will be chip timed with starting and finishing timing mats.

COVID-19
- You may not attend the event if you have experienced symptoms of COVID-19 or tested positive within fourteen (14) days prior to the event.
- If you test positive for COVID-19 within fourteen days following the event, you must email 5Kfor43sons@gmail.com so that we may notify volunteers and participants as necessary.
- All runners and spectators should social distance, in order to protect the health and safety of themselves and others.
- Fully vaccinated runners and spectators are not required to wear face coverings.
- Unvaccinated individuals are responsible for wearing face coverings in accordance with CDC, state, and city guidelines. If you are not vaccinated, you must wear a face-covering throughout this event other than when running. When running, you may remove the covering only when you can maintain social distance.
