This year, the South Nyack Race cannot run the usual 10-mile course because of road construction in Grand View. Instead, we have a very special course that resonates with the race's origin as part of South Nyack's centennial celebrations in 1978.
This year, the race starts and ends in Franklin Street Park as usual, but takes the Esposito Trail onto the Gov. Mario M. Cuomo Bridge Path. That's right, we're going over the Hudson to Westchester and back! To our knowledge, this is the first running race to do so. Instead of viewing the Bridge from the Piermont Pier, you'll be enjoying the view of the Pier from the Bridge!
The 7.8 mile distance reflects the original length of the race, which Mayor Esposito began in 1978 to honor the centennial of the incorporation of South Nyack as a separate municipality. In the year that the Village of South Nyack is absorbed into Orangetown, we honor that tradition with a race of the original distance.
The race starts at 8:30, and the course will close at 10:30, after which the water stations will start to be dismantled, so it is not recommended for walkers.
Rockland Road Runner Club members receive a 20% discount at checkout. The number of in-person participants is capped at 500.
Awards will be give to the top three overall (Male, Female and Non-binary), to the top Masters finishers and in 5-year age groups for the remaining runners.
