11 Week Half Marathon Training Program (Regular Registration)
ALUMNI 11 Week Half Marathon Training Program (Past FF training group participants/mentors)
Miles & Habits
We're launching our official half marathon Fall training program to get ready for the Rhinebeck Fall Foliage half marathon, which takes place on Saturday, 9/26. Training will begin on Monday, 7/13.
This training program isn't just about logging miles in an app or checking a workout off your list. It's a full wellness journey. Yes, we're going to get you physically ready to crush those 13.1 miles. But running is only one piece of the puzzle. We're focusing on the whole athlete—and the whole human.
Every week, alongside our group runs, we will introduce and tackle one foundational healthy habit together. We’ll dive into things like:
- Sleep: Consistently hitting that 8–9 hour sweet spot so your body actually recovers.
- Nutrition: Realistically crowding out the junk by adding more whole foods and vegetables to your plate.
- Hydration: Moving past "forgetting to drink water all day" to truly fueling your muscles and joints.
Whether you're looking to finish your very first half marathon or set a personal best on the course, you'll cross the finish line as a stronger, healthier, and more balanced version of yourself.
Before signing up, read the training program details below carefully. If you still have questions about the program, don't hesitate to get in touch with us at info@fleetfeetpoughkeepsie.com. Please don't call the store with questions. Our outfitters aren't involved in managing our training programs and are busy helping folks find the perfect gear!
Don't Miss a Beat!
When you do sign up, to make sure you get all the important training program information and details, please double-check that your Run Signup account is linked to an email address you actually use and check regularly. We'd hate for you to miss out on any crucial info!

What Makes Our Training Unique
Training Approach
Our primary goal is for you to complete the training program successfully without any injuries.
Our approach focuses on time-based training rather than mileage-based training. Why? Because this helps you train based on your rate of perceived effort, allowing you to focus on the effort of a run (easy, hard, etc.) without worrying about hitting a specific mileage goal for each run.
Coaches & Mentors
Seasoned coaches and mentors who are hand-picked to help guide you through the entire training program. These are people who've been through our training programs in the past, have their own running experiences to share, and are there at every group run to motivate you! Meet the team that will be working with you.
Accountability + Community
- A kickoff session for everyone to meet, get their questions answered, and share their goals.
- Regular group meet-ups for runs and post-run coffee.
- Group connection through the Final Surge Social Wall function to keep the motivation going throughout the entire training!
FAQs
As a general guideline, by the start of the half marathon program, you should be able to run for consecutive 40-50 minutes and ideally have a weekly base of ~15 or more miles. This is not a zero-to-half marathon program!
This is our most frequently asked question, and the answer is a resounding no! Our groups include runners of all paces, from sub-10 to 15-16 minutes. Many, if not most, of our runners fall in the 11-12 minute pace range.
That’s ok! Come to as many as you can, but don’t let the group's schedule deter you from joining the program. Our training groups are typically around 20-30 people, and it would be impossible to find a single day and time that works for everyone. Don’t think that you won't get value out of the program if you can’t make it to every session. We've had runners in the past who didn’t make it to any group sessions but still found great value in the coaching/group dynamic, had a great experience, and successfully completed the race.
The primary consideration for joining should be whether you are willing to invest the time in training.
This is totally fine! But you will be responsible for modifying your training plan to meet your specific needs. If your schedule is ahead of the group’s, we ask that you refrain from encouraging other runners to run longer distances than those prescribed in their training plan.
Generally speaking, yes. Except for unsafe conditions such as thunder and lightning. We will always keep the group posted about the status of our group runs.
While we do our best to respond to and accommodate everyone's needs, please keep in mind that this is a group training session. We do not currently offer one-on-one training.
Unfortunately, once the training program is shared with participants, we are unable to offer refunds. If, within the first two weeks of the training program, you have a unique circumstance that prevents you from completing it, we can offer you a spot in a future training program. Any refunds before the training program is shared would not include any applicable Run Signup fees.
