The Syracuse Parks Conservancy joins the Syracuse Parks Department to bring you Syrathon 2023!  SYRATHON brings together 8 established road races, all based in the City of Syracuse and spaced throughout the calendar year, into this unique road race series! Syrathon’s eight race routes showcase Syracuse’s incredible and historic parks systems as participants journey through a number of wonderful city neighborhoods. Since 2009, the Series has encouraged, for both beginners and seasoned runners, healthful physical activity year-round, while promoting the sights and sounds of city life!  In 2020 and 2021, Syrathon adapted to the challenges of Covid-19 with both virtual and in-person races, but in 2022, we returned to our traditional Series with a full schedule of races!

The Syrathon Series Challenge again will challenge registered participants to accumulate at least 26.2 race miles over the course of the Series. Those who meet the challenge are known as Syrathoners, and will have earned the coveted Syrathon Medal!  All registered participants receive a cool race shirt!  And, there will be race day raffles for more great prizes!

The mission of the St. Patrick Hunger Project is to help support our community network of hunger-related agencies in meeting the food needs of the individuals and families they serve. By educating Central New Yorkers about “An Gorta Mor”* (the Great Hunger) in Ireland, we hope to focus the efforts of fellow Syracusans, on the need to fight hunger year round—especially during the month of March when food supplies at the agencies are lower.

We are asking this year's race participants & spectators to bring either a food donation of non-perishable canned or boxed food or a monetary donation to the:

“St. Patrick Hunger Fund” c/o Food Bank of CNY
7066 Interstate Island Road, Syracuse , NY 13209 (315) 437-1899

Donations will be distributed through the Interreligious Food Consortium and the Food Bank of CNY.

The St. Patrick Hunger Project is sponsored by the Syracuse St.Patrick Parade Committee.

* During the famine years in Ireland, one million men, women and children starved to death even though resources were available that could have prevented one of history’s worst tragedies. In our own community, we have the resources to make a difference, and to make sure that no individual goes hungry in Syracuse in 2022.

This is an incredible group of people, very committed to the neighborhood and extremely hardworking. When you see them in the neighborhood, please thank them for their dedication to Tipperary Hill.
