This event is ideal for:

• Marathon swimmers

• Channel swimmers

• Open ocean swimmers

• Masters swimmers

• Endurance athletes

• Triathletes with significant open water experience

For the first time, A Long Swim is recruiting two Nantucket relay teams to join the challenge and create a true island-to-island collaboration between Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard.

We are seeking experienced open ocean swimmers who are comfortable swimming in variable ocean conditions and who embrace the traditions of marathon swimming.

All participants must comply with English Channel swimming rules, including:

• Standard swimsuit only (no wetsuits)

• Swim cap and goggles permitted

• One-hour swimming rotations

• No physical contact with the escort boat while swimming

• No physical assistance from another person during the swim (companion swimmers allowed for encouragement if and when needed)

Each relay team is responsible for providing:

• An companion escort power boat

• A licensed and experienced Vineyard Sound boat captain

• An official observer

• An experienced kayaker and kayak

Each swimmer is required to make a donation-based entry fee of $1,000.

Every participant will receive a personalized fundraising page through A Long Swim and is encouraged to raise funds beyond the entry donation.

Proceeds from the event benefit the Martha's Vineyard YMCA and help provide swim lessons and water safety education for underserved youth.
