Can I push a jogging stroller?
NO STROLLERS for the 5 mile course. The 5k allows strollers as the road will be closed to thru-traffic. If you wish to push a jogging stroller please register for the 5K distance.
Can I bring my dog?
No dogs are allowed to participate in any race or at New Pond Farm.
What is included in my race registration?
ALL Race registrations (5 Mile, 5K, Children's sap run) include a beautiful New Pond Farm lunch tote, race T-shirt, car magnet, as well as early admission into the Oktoberfest festival! Registrants will receive a beer/drink ticket, a food ticket (your choice of Masako's famous chili, freshly grilled brat, or veggie burger), and of course a finishers medal! Plan to spend some time enjoying the beauty of New Pond Farm while enjoying live music and games, as well as crafts. Craft tickets are included in all children's Sap Run entries.
What if some of our family are running and the rest are not? Do they need tickets?
Everyone needs either a race registration or Oktoberfest ticket to enjoy the finish line area, Oktoberfest, crafts, live music, and more. Spectators with Oktoberfest tickets get early access to Oktoberfest alongside their runner as well as exclusive access to cheer at the finish area.
Adults with registered Sap Runners do need either a race registration or Oktoberfest ticket to participate in Oktoberfest, and children cannot race unsupervised.
Are Kids allowed at Oktoberfest?
YES! The Oktoberfest is family friendly, and will have something for all ages. Get your passport stamped around the property as you enjoy uniquely New Pond Farm experiences at our Native American encampment, pond, astronomy hill, and more. We will have music for all ages, as well as games. Our Sunken Garden will be transformed into an area safe for our youngest visitors to explore.
Where do I park?
Registered runners and Oktoberfest ticket holders will be sent information via email the week before the race with information such as parking, logisitics, packet pick-up and more.
What are the courses like?
The 5 Mile course begins with rolling uphill before traveling down past a scenic waterfall and Redding's Mark Twain Library. It then continues along Rt. 53 for a relatively flat stretch, before finishing uphill and through the dairy barn at the farm. The 5K course begins the same as the 5mi course, but turns around at the intersection with Diamond Hill to go back up and then down for a fast downhill finish through the dairy barn.
Are the races timed?
Yes, the 5mi and 5k are both timed professionaly by Nutmeg Timing. The Children's Sap run is untimed.
Can non-runners attend Oktoberfest?
Yes! Oktoberfest only registrations are on sale now! They include the scavenger hunt and passport, children's entry includes tickets for games & crafts, your choice of bratwurst, bowl of chili, or veggie burger, and of course a frosty beer (21+)/non-alchoholic beverage.
