Run 4 Rory 4-Mile Race and Fun Run

The second annual Run '4' Rory is a timed 4-mile Run followed by a 2-mile walk and kids fun run. The event will take place on June 8, 2019, in Perrysburg, OH, starting and ending at Woodlands Park Pavilion. This family-friendly day will include a community vendor expo, music, and free activities and entertainment for children. Participants 10 and older will run/walk a four-mile loop on a flat and fast route. A two-mile walking course and free kids fun run (ages 0-9) will also be available. Strollers and dogs welcome. Register as a group/team for a discount! Run or walk for your special heart warrior, organization, or just with your family and friends. 10 members for $200+Signup Fee!  **PLEASE NOTE: All registrants will be required to pay full price until all 10 group/team members register. Discount will apply after the 10th person registers to the group/team. A refund will be issued to all members who sign-up prior to the 10th registrant. If a group/team does not have 10 members by event day, all registrants will be charged full price. There is a MAX of 10 registrants per group. A signup fee is charged per transaction.

Race Begins at 9:00 a.m. 

Heartbeat Walk will begin immediately following runners. 

Kids-Fun Fun Run at 10:00 a.m. 

Vendor Expo and Family Fun 8:30-11:00 a.m.

100% of all proceeds benefit the American Heart Association and will be used locally to bring education and awareness of CHD through Infant CPR kits, a local support network, and new parent educational supplies.

Congenital Heart Disease is the most common birth defect affecting 1 in 100 newborns.

                                                                                    WHO IS RORY?

Rory Yoakam is 1 of 4 in every 100,000 children born with a severe congenital heart defect called pulmonary atresia intact ventricular septum causing hypoplastic right heart syndrome.  Because one of Rory’s valves never developed the right side of his heart never grew.  Traditionally a child born with Rory’s congenital defect would have already undergone two of three open-heart surgeries that would eventually result in a single ventricle system.  As a result of extensive research and support from organizations like The American Heart Association Rory has maintained a two-ventricle system with only catheter-based interventions.  Every year innovations in the treatment of congenital heart disease are providing the opportunity for children like Rory to live a life they never thought possible.

We want to celebrate Rory and all other heart warriors and continue to support The American Heart Association by hosting the second annual Run 4 Rory: CHD Awareness Run. Through your generous support of this year's run, we hope to fund new initiatives to support the many families throughout northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan who have been impacted by congenital heart disease. Your funding will specifically provide new infrastructure for a congenital heart defect local support network, dependable education and resources, and infant CPR kits that will be provided to the congenital heart community, new parents, and interdisciplinary teams throughout our region.
