The Boring Marathon, Half-Boring Half-Marathon, and Constantly Boring 8K will take place on September 10, 2023. All races start and finish at Boring Station Trailhead Park in downtown Boring, Oregon. Parking will be at Boring Middle School, Naas Elementary School, and the surrounding neighborhood. Please respect the neighbors by not blocking driveways. Please use SE Wally Rd and SE School Ave to reach parking after 6:15 am, as runners will be crossing SE Dee St. The three races are all on the Springwater Trail, out and back, with the marathon having a new course for 2023 due to some issues with permits.
The Boring Marathon Course now runs the half marathon course twice. It is much flatter than the previous course, but the biggest loss is that it is no longer a Boston-Certified Course. We will work on reviving the Boston certification for 2024, but for 2023 it is not a qualifier course.
The Half Boring Half Marathon is an out-and-back on the Springwater Trail from Boring Stations Trailhead Park to Towle Ave and back.
The Constantly Boring 8K, which never really leaves the Boring area so truly is constantly Boring, starts at the same spot and is a short 4k out and back course. For 2023, as like the last few years we will continue to offer a virtual option for those that would like to earn the Boring Shirt and Medal, but cannot travel to our lovely little city.
Limits - Marathon is limited to 120, Half to 230, the 8K to 150, and Virtual (Unlimited).
Packet Pick-up Locations and Times -
Packet Pickup (Friday before the race) - Boring Brewing Co. Tasting Room (38250 Pioneer Blvd, Sandy, OR 97055) 3:30 pm- 7:30 pm
Packet Pickup (Saturday before the race) - Boring Station Trailhead Park (28008 Keller Road Boring, OR 97009) 3:30 pm- 7:30 pm
Packet Pickup (Race day) - Boring Station Trailhead Park (28008 Keller Road Boring, OR 97009) 5:30 am- 8:30 am
Time limit - Walkers are welcome, but because we run part of the race along roads, we need to discontinue aid stations and traffic control after 7 hours. However, we will keep the finish line open and staffed until the last runner/walker comes in and nobody will be disqualified by time. Early starts can be arranged - but are not required - for marathoners or half marathoners who expect to take longer than 6 hours.
Boring Sister City of Dull, Scotland - any resident of Dull, Scotland gets free registration (but you pay the travel)
Awards - All entries prior to August 11th, 2023 are guaranteed to receive a shirt in their first size choice. Shirts are not guaranteed after August 1st, but we will do our best to order enough shirts to get everyone a shirt. Everyone will get a medal. To help guide a shirt choice, men's shirts tend to run a little large, and women's tend to run a little small. Medals will be awarded to finishers in all three in-person races as well as sent to virtual participants.
Refunds & Deferrals - Unfortunately, we cannot offer refunds once you have registered. Deferrals are offered only in rare circumstances.
There will be NO day of race registration this year.
Changing races - If you signed up for a race and wish to change to a different race, please contact the race director before September 1 at email@example.com. There is no refund for the difference in cost when changing races.
The Boring Marathon, Half Marathon, and 8k are all USATF certified and insured races.
