Description

Join us on Saturday morning, June 20, 2026 to celebrate the summer solstice with Dave's Solstice Run 5K at Blue Lake.

This event is named after Dave Green, a long-time ORRC member and volunteer. Dave was an active board member, joining in 1981, and becoming president in 1992. Race director for multiple events, including the original Blue Lake Runs, Dave was also the “Treasurer Extraordinaire” and was instrumental in helping the club through some tough times financially in the past. This event epitomizes Dave Green, and his love for low-key, family friendly events.

Red Caboose Award
ORRC wants to recognize all of its participants, from the first to the last. The last person to cross the
finish line will earn a Red Caboose award.

Eco-Friendly
ORRC strives to be eco-friendly. We will reduce, reuse, recycle and compost as much as possible on
the road, trail and at post-race events. We will provide paper cups at aid stations, but we
encourage participants to bring their own hydration system—packs, handhelds, silicone cups,
etc.—to reduce waste on the course.

My First Run
ORRC wants to celebrate your firsts. Contact the race director in advance about your landmark—“My first 5K” and more. On race day we’ll provide you with custom bibs so others can see your goal and encourage you along the way. Suitable for framing and social media.

Pay It Forward Fund
At our running events, ORRC strives to promote inclusivity and fairness for all participants. While it's
true that running only requires a pair of shoes, we understand that barriers to entry exist. Our Pay It
Forward Fund (PIFF) assists those with financial difficulties paying for race fees. Contact this event’s
race director about discounted race entries. We want to emphasize that everyone is welcome at our
races, including BIPOC, LGBTQ+ and youth runners.
