Welcome to the July challenge from our BCM Challenge Series.   

This month gives participants a chance to be a part of Butler’s rich history by taking on Butler County’s first ever Cannonball Run!    


Please take the time to READ THE ENTIRE CHALLENGE DESCRIPTION AND RULES in order to receive credit for completing the Cannonball Run Challenge.

The Cannonball Run is equal parts a running challenge, fun, and full-on adventure. 

This challenge will take you to every corner of Butler County, and ends in the center or “heartbeat” of the county.  

You will experience scenic views, beautiful countryside, gorgeous forest trails, public crushed limestone rail trail, paved paths, and pass countless local family owned businesses.


What is the Butler County Cannonball Run? 
The Cannonball Run has participants running at least 5 miles, in 6 different townships of Butler County, all in 1 day. Runners will finish at least 5 miles in Slippery Rock, Foxburg, Sarver, Cranberry, Prospect and Butler for a grand total of 50k (31 miles).


1. Everyone will begin at the Jennings Environmental Education Center in Slippery Rock, PA:

2. From there you'll head on out to Foxburg for a 5 mile run along the Allegheny River Trail:

3. Followed by a nice 5 miler along the Butler-Freeport Rail Trail in Sarver, PA:

4. After which it's off to a lovely jaunt around North Boundary Park in Cranberry:

5. Then some miles running through Moraine State Park in Prospect:

6. With a final destination of a scenic cruise around the trails at Alameda Park in Butler:
