What is Legacy of Hope? Why is this celebration of life fundraising for them?

Legacy of Hope is a Philly organization that helps cancer patients find new cures and receive emergency patient support. They partner with hospitals and local groups to assist financially-struggling patients who have no other options. Additionally, they fund cancer research by using the expertise of Philly's top researchers to select and support promising scientists. David served on the board of Legacy for Hope and believed in the mission of the organization. Through Legacy of Hope, we are able to bring the David April Emergency Patient Center to fruition and we can honor the life and legacy of David by providing support to fellow cancer patients and their families.

Do I have to run to join?

Absolutely not! As David would have wanted, all are welcome and you are encouraged to participate in your own way. Feel free to run the full course, walk, run/walk a portion of the course, or simply stay at PBC sharing memories with friends and family.

How far is the fun run? What do I get if I win?

The fun run is 2.3 miles, in honor of David's favorite number (23). You get nothing if you win - the emphasis is on fun. In fact, we encourage you to not try to win! The course is on open roads, and you are responsible for looking out for car traffic and other pedestrians. Take in the sights instead!

I miss David, but I'm not sure I am able to pay the registration fee. Can I come without registering?

We ask everyone to register to ensure capacity at PBC. However, if you are unable to pay the entry fee, simply use the coupon code NoQuestionsAsked (case sensitive) at checkout for free registration. We are including a fee to help raise more for Legacy of Hope, but we would not want that to be a barrier for anyone who wants to come celebrate David's life.

What does my fee pay for?

All registrants will get their first beer free (21+), a small memorial gift, and the ability to join (or not) the fun run. Once (limited) costs are covered, the remainder of your entry fee will go directly to Legacy of Hope.

What do you mean by "Become a Fundraiser"?

Fundraisers are community members who want to honor David's legacy by raising money for the David April Emergency Patient Support Center. If you opt to become a fundraiser, you'll get your own fundraising page that can be customized and shared with your friends and family. All funds raised go to Legacy of Hope. You can find some resources for fundraisers here

Is there food available at this event?

There is no food provided by the event; however, Nick's Roast Beef food truck will be onsite for food purchases. The menu will include Roast Beef Sandwiches, Roast Pork Sandwiches, Cheesesteak Egg Rolls, French Freis, Soft Pretzels, Soda, and Bottled Water.

Unfortunately, I cannot attend, but I want to honor David. Should I register anyway?

PBC has limited capacity, so we ask you not to register if you cannot attend. However, you can still participate in the event by making a donation, becoming a fundraiser, or checking out our online auction (coming soon).

Can our company sponsor the event?

Absolutely! Pleas see here for sponsor opportunities and contact us if you are interested in sponsoring.
