Kimberton Waldorf School invites you to participate in our 6th Annual Farm to School Trail Run & Family Wellness Event, on Sunday October 7th, 2018. This year, we are focused on ‘Sustainability’ within the community and on campus. We are also raising awareness for Non-GMO foods, clean water & air, and healthy soils!
The annual event will take place on Kimberton Waldorf School’s breathtaking 430 acre campus, located at 410 West Seven Stars Road, Phoenixville, PA.
Our improved French Creek Conservation Trail is a single loop 5k, taking you across protected fields and through beautiful hardwood forests, over dirt trails and tributaries, and along the peaceful French Creek. We will also offer an exciting double loop 10k course and relaxing 5k Nature Walk. The Entire Event begins at 8:30 am, including Registration, the Kid's Fun Run at 9 am, and the Trail Runs & Nature Walk begin at 10 am. The staff at Iron Cross Athletics will warm-up the Trail Runners & Walkers at around 9:45 am!! Same Day Registration available (no T-shirt guarantee).
There is something for the whole family to enjoy, including a Wellness Fair with vendors, free delicious lunch for registrants, a free Kids Fun Run, children’s activities, and free post-race massages by Blue Buddha Healing Arts. We will also have adoptable dogs available, provided by All 4 Paws Rescue, LLC. There will be awards and cash prizes, and Long-sleeve T-shirts for all pre-registrants. Weleda, Bee’s Wrap (sustainable food storage), Teatulia, Vermont Compost Company, United By Blue, Dansko, Badger Balm, Southern Exposure Seed Exchange, Nature's Path Organics, Seven Stars Inn, Zanfel, and Nova Natural Toys + Gifts, will provide donations for goodie bags, raffles & prizes! This refreshing French Creek activity and Wellness Fair brings together outdoor enthusiasts of all ages, and supports our sustainable efforts on campus to promote environmental and clean water stewardship. Our campus fields & farmlands are herbicide & pesticide free, and we offer Organic lunches to our students. The PA Audubon has recognized our campus as a Certified Bird Habitat. New this year, we will have a LIVE Raptor Meet & Greet by the John James Audubon Center. Our students also participate in a composting program.
Just confirmed, the motivated scientists at The Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University will attend and bring 'Interactive Displays' of "bugs, fish, algae, and chemistry"!! Also, we plan to offer a Mini-Farmer's Market in coordination with local CSA's, selling yummy veggies, and a raffle basket with fresh veggies.
Green Mountain Energy will also attend our Wellness Fair. Orion Communities of Phoenixville will attend the Wellness Event, and will be collecting food & clothing for the hungry & homeless in our communities.
Other community organizations attending: Valley Forge Park Alliance, Activate Phoenixville Area, and Pennsylvania Association of Sustainable Agriculture! This is a wonderful community event; please consider providing a donation for a sponsorship. Proceeds will benefit the Kimberton Waldorf School Community Spirit Fund.
