**LIVE Race is on Saturday, September 26, 2020 at 8:00 am**
This year’s LIVE race will be limited to 250 runners per Pennsylvania state guidelines due to COVID-19.
The Region’s Oldest Running Event!
The first York White Rose Run was held in 1977 and it has been run on the streets of York City for 42 years. This family-friendly race has drawn as many as 800+ runners and has been known to attract a field of elite runners from local and regional areas, including Olympic Games participants from eleven different countries.
The York Road Runners Club, established in 1976, proudly manages, organizes, and directs the York White Rose Run. This race is put on by runners for runners and is geared to participants of all abilities and experience levels.

New for 2020, the 43rd Running
This year’s race includes both a LIVE and a VIRTUAL race. Runners around the world have embraced VIRTUAL racing in 2020, and we wanted to add this option to our 2020 edition! You can register for the LIVE, or the VIRTUAL, or register for each of the events (**you must register separately for each event if you wish to do both**).
The LIVE race sports a new course for 2020, which takes advantage of a part of the beautiful, newly opened section of the Heritage Rail Trail north of the city. In brief, the course will wind through the city for three miles (including Farquhar Park) and then cross George St onto the new section of the Heritage Rail Trail, run approximately 1 mile out to turnaround, and finish at the usual spot on Beaver St. The start and venue will remain at the White Rose Bar and Grill.
Due to COVID-19, our LIVE race and post-race events will have special precautions and a different kind of experience. ** Click/tap on York 5 Mile LIVE Race for details. **
The VIRTUAL race is anywhere/anytime between September 1 and September 27, 2020. You can run the former course, the new course, or you can run anywhere/anytime.
And you can be a VOLUNTEER. With the race running through the city, we need many volunteers, who will receive a race t-shirt exactly like the runners’ shirts, along with a good feeling that you are helping a good cause. Most positions allow for easy social distancing and all COVID-19 precautions.
The York White Rose Run is proud to support Not One More, York PA Chapter – a nonprofit organization committed to providing awareness, education and support to those affected by drug abuse and addiction.
Proceeds from the LIVE and VIRTUAL events will support this very important charity. Runners may donate when they register. (In 2019, runners directly donated almost $2,000 and the York Road Runners Club board voted to add all of the income minus race expenses to our charity for a total donation of $5,000.) This year has been particularly difficult for people with addictions and you can be proud to help with this important mission. Once again, a portion of your race registrations fees will go directly to the charity.
