50 Mile Trail Guide

This 50 Mile race will take you through almost the entirety of Philmont's south country. You will experience all that the Rockies of northeastern New Mexico have to offer. The course begins at the Zastrow Trailhead, following the Rayado River west along the boundary line to Apache Springs before heading north to the summit of Mt. Phillips, then east to Hunting Lodge, south through Clark's Fork to Sheafers Pass, then down Tooth Ridge.  Details for the course can be downloaded in the PDF file 50 Mile Trail Guide below.

REQUIRED to have run a trail marathon or equivalent effort 2 years prior of the start of the race, it will be asked at registration to share proof of race results or GPS date of similar efforts. All runners of the 50 mile race must carry with them a headlamp, water carrying capacity, and a rain shell with them at all times on the course.
