Event Information

All other events start at 9 a.m.
Location/Parking
This event is at Henry Hagg Lake in Scoggins Valley Park, approximately 6 miles south of Forest Grove on Highway 47. The start/finish is at Bobcat Cove; parking is at C-Ramp. (They are a 5 minute walk apart.) DO NOT STOP at the fee booth at the entrance to the lake, as the park day use fee is included in the entry fee. As you enter the parking area near C-Ramp you will be given a permit to put on your dashboard. Park where the volunteers instruct you. In an effort to reduce the footprint of our race, we encourage runners and volunteers to rideshare when possible.
Course Description
The 5K run/walk and 10K run/walk are out and back, starting and finishing at Bobcat Cove (counter-clockwise, then clockwise). The 10.5 mile run/walk is once around the lake going counter-clockwise, starting and finishing at Bobcat Cove. Participants should stay in the bike lane, except when the 5K and 10K cross the road at the turn-around and at the finish. Flaggers will be provided.

Aid stations will have water, Gatorade, Gu, sweet and salty snacks. There will be a Uhaul and bicyclists sweeping the course to assist runners as needed. There are first aid kits at each aid station. EMS will be on standby at Bobcat Cove.

Pay It Forward Fund
At our running events, ORRC strives to promote inclusivity and fairness for all participants. While it's true that running only requires a pair of shoes, we understand that barriers to entry exist. Our Pay It Forward Fund (PIFF) assists those with financial difficulties paying for race fees. Contact this event’s race director about discounted race entries. We want to emphasize that everyone is welcome at our races, including BIPOC, LGBTQ+ and youth runners.
Bib Pickup
Packet Pick-up will be only on race day at Bobcat Cove, starting at 7:30 a.m. We will be using dynamic bib assignment, so you will be assigned a number on race day.
Eco-Friendly
ORRC strives to be eco-friendly. We will reduce, reuse, recycle and compost as much as possible on the road, trail and at post-race events. We will provide paper cups at aid stations, but we encourage participants to bring their own hydration system—packs, handhelds, silicone cups, etc.—to reduce waste on the course. ORRC will offer free reusable cups at its events.
My First Run
ORRC wants to celebrate your firsts. Contact the race director in advance about your landmark—“My first 10K”, “My first 5K” and more. On race day we’ll provide you with custom bibs so others can see your goal and encourage you along the way. Suitable for framing and social media.
Transgender and Nonbinary Entrant Policy
Transgender women can register to compete a) in the female category if athletes have undergone medically supervised hormone treatment for at least one year prior to the race or b) in the male category with no restrictions. Transgender men can register to compete a) in the male category if athletes have undergone medically supervised hormone treatment for at least one year prior to the race or b) in the female category with no restrictions. During registration, all entrants can select their gender category – male, female, or nonbinary. Entrants who choose nonbinary will have their own division, results page, and awards. The gender and category that a runner selects during registration will be accepted as is. As such, no challenges to a runner's gender or category will be allowed or tolerated.

Walking Policy
The 5K, 10K and 10.5 miler have a separate walking category with awards for walkers. If you are registered as a walker, the expectation is that you will walk the entire time (i.e. one foot on the ground at all times). If you plan to run any portion of any walking event, then you should register as a runner. Please understand that that this is not a judged race walking event, so we expect walkers to police themselves. We ask that walkers start toward the back of the pack so as to not impede the runners, and to not walk more than two abreast on the course so that runners and traffic can pass safely.
Share the Road
Be aware that most of the road is not closed to traffic. Runners, walkers, and bicyclists will also be on the road and in the bike lane. Therefore, always stay in the bike lane (no tangents), only two abreast, to allow others to pass. Be courteous of others, giving a heads-up (“Runner on your left”) as you pass someone slower. You don’t own the road; you share it.
Headphone Policy
The use of personal music devices is strongly discouraged at this race. To enjoy all that our race has to offer and for the safety of all participants, ORRC encourages a headphone-free environment during the running of the event.
Strollers/Dogs/Age Limit
Strollers, baby joggers or similar devices are permitted, but should start in the back of the pack.
Only service dogs are permitted and they must be trained to run in crowds.
We discourage anyone younger than 14 to run the 10.5 mile distance.
