Plaid to the Bone 10K — with Revolution on the Rappahannock

Make a weekend of it in Falmouth this October. On Saturday, October 10, step back into the 1770s at Revolution on the Rappahannock, a living history event honoring James Hunter's Iron Works - the "greatest Iron Works on the Continent" during the American Revolution. Expect battle reenactments, blacksmithing demonstrations, symposium speakers, and music from bagpipes and fife and drum, all at Pratt Park.
Sunday morning, trade your musket for running shoes at the Plaid to the Bone 10K. This flannel-and-tartan run winds along the Rappahannock River through Pratt and St. Clair Brooks Parks, with Clan Hunter joining in a nod to the weekend's history. Costumes are welcome, plaid and tartan are basically required, and everyone gets cider and donuts at the finish.

Cap off the weekend with self-guided Heritage Tours of the Falmouth Historic Cemetery and Union Church, where James Hunter, the man behind it all, is laid to rest.
