We hope that you will take advantage of this opportunity to spend your Saturday morning doing errands and taking the kids to practice and then make plans to run with us, followed by the Taste of the Shore Food Rally. SUNSET ON RACE DAY IS 7:54pm

RACE SWAG- Stuff We All Get!

SHIRT: These short sleeve authentic Under Armour tee shirts wick sweat fast, keeping you dry from the first rep to your last. They’re made to keep you cool, too, so you’re not overheating and as a result of your hard work.

MEDAL: Every finisher will earn this stylish medal for completing their race. Proudly display this classic designed medallion with some added flair- The flamingo's feathers are filled with sparkling glitter for an added WOW! factor.

NOT UP FOR THE FULL 3.1 MILES?
You can select the 1-Mile Fun Run Instead. The Fun Run is a great choice for walkers, families, kids, or anyone who wants to be part of the run element of the event but are not up for the full 5K distance. Participants in the Fun Run get all of the same benefits as the 5K participants with less of the training.
WATER STOP
Participants are welcome to bring their own water on course with them. We will have one water stop on the course and water at the finish line to keep your hydration up during the 5K. If you need additional on course nutrition such as gel, please bring your own.

SOCIAL TEAMS

SOCIAL TEAMS get discounted entry fees, as well as additional benefits and prices. Running with a friend (or a group!) really is so much more fun than running alone. Once the race is over, a team is there to celebrate, and relax after the accomplishments of the day. Plus, they’ll keep people going and motivate them to keep training or finish strong if they’re starting to feel sluggish mid-race.

RACE RESTRICTIONS
1 HOUR TIME LIMIT | NO DOGS ON THE COURSE OR AT THE FINISH LINE FESTIVITIES
The Plantation Lakes 5K is a chip-timed event. Participants must finish the 5K course in under 1 hour. As long as you can finish under the time limit, participants can run, jog or walk the entire course. Don’t worry, the post race festivites at the end of the race will be eagerly awaiting you!
Jogging strollers are permitted but are asked to start in the back of the pack. Wheelchair athletes are permitted but due to safety concerns and street closure restrictions cannot travel faster than the fastest runner. No bikes, scooters, skateboards, or other wheeled vehicles are allowed. PLEASE NO DOGS ON THE COURSE OR AT THE FINISH LINE FESTIVITIES.
TASTE OF THE SHORE

What better way to celebrate your accomplishments – music, food and drinks! We expect 6-8 food vendors at our post race celebration. Your bib will contain three Taste Tickets that you can exchange for food samples. Vendors will create a signature item for the event so you can choose any of them. Need more Tastes? No worries, you can purchase additional tickets during the registration process or on race day.
Not interested in running? No worries! Just come to the Taste. It's open to the public and tickets will be available for purchase on-site. Come cheer on the runners and hang out at this year’s most unique tasting event. Eat, drink and be merry!

ABOUT THE CHARITY
The Shaffer Family Foundation was established with the mission of supporting and uplifting our community's first responders, who selflessly dedicate their lives to ensuring our safety and well-being. Our foundation is committed to providing resources and support for these everyday heroes and their families, ensuring they have access to vital services and opportunities.
The Rally for Our First Responders is the Shaffer Family Foundation’s signature annual event, bringing together the community to celebrate, honor, and support Delaware’s first responders. Now entering its 4th year, the Rally has become a cornerstone event, attracting thousands of attendees and raising significant funds to benefit first responders across the state.
The funds raised through the Rally directly benefit Delaware’s first responder organizations, providing critical resources to enhance their services and support their teams. Additionally, this year’s Rally will fund the newly established Shaffer Family First Responder Scholarship Fund, which provides scholarships to the children of first responders pursuing higher education. This initiative underscores our commitment to not only supporting first responders today but also investing in the future of their families.
