A map with suggested parking locations is available on this website. Parking is available on the side streets near Central Park--ideally on Southern Shores Drive or Potomac Station Way. Avoid parking in the round about west of Central Park.
Yes, dogs are permitted on the course. Please keep your dog on a leash and be extremely cautious of and courteous to other runners on the course.
It is not at all feasible for strollers/joggers to be used on the 10K course. We also strongly discourage use of strollers/joggers on the 5K course. The course are hilly and have many tree roots, rocks, and other obstacles. Historically, most participants who have taken strollers/joggers on the 5K course regret it.
No. However, our race operations will begin shutting down, and course marshals will leave the course by 11:15AM.
Yes. However, we urge you to use extreme caution when crossing roads, driveways, parking lot areas, or golfcart paths as no roads or cart paths are closed to traffic during this event. Additionally, you should keep your volume low enough to hear instructions from course marshals or communication from other runners. (Fun anecdote: the potential winner of the 10K a couple of years ago had headphones on, accidentally turned onto the 5K course, and could not hear the cries of the course marshal alerting him. He did not win the race. :(
There is a race course map located on this webpage. The start/finish line is located on the northern edge of Potomac Shores' Central Park adjacent to the park's pavilion on Potomac Station Way.
Yes. There are mens and womens restrooms at the opposite end of the park from the pavilion (near the playground).
No. We recommend you secure them in your vehicle.
Yes. There is one water station on the 5K course (at about the 2 mile mark), and two water stations on the 10K course at about the 3 mile mark and the 5 mile mark. There will also be water at the sign-in area and near the restrooms.
There are no medals, but there are prizes awarded to top finishers. Please, see our placing/prize scheme on this webpage.
T-shirts are available for purchase on this website as part of the registration process. You are not obligated to purchase a t-shirt. In past year's we have given the t-shirts to all participants at no cost. This year we are offering them at a minimal cost in order to more effectively manage the Association's resources. Thank you for your understanding.
Yes, you can register on race day (up until 9:00AM - 15 minutes before the start), however, you will still need to do it on your phone/computer on your own own. And then still report to the sign-in table for your assigned bib.
The 10K course is particularly hilly and challenging and is therefore not suitable for kids under 14 years old.
