Race Day Details
There is parking available throughout downtown Mattoon. You are welcome to park in the lot in front of the YMCA. There are also lots and spaces closer to the starting line next to KC Summers.
It is recommended that you arrive about 30 minutes prior to the start of the race if you have already completed packet pickup. If you need to get your packet that morning, it is recommended that you arrive at least 45 minutes beforehand.
The 10k race will start promptly at 6:30 am. The 5k will start ten minutes after the start of the 10k. These will begin next to KC Summers Toyota.
The 1 mile fun run will begin at 8:30 next to the YMCA.
Course and Timing
There will be two water stations on the course. One will be in Lytle park and one on Prairie Ave.
The 5k will hit each of these once (1.4m & 2.4m).
The 10k will hit each of these twice (1.4m, 2.4m, 4.1m, & 5.5m)
There are restrooms inside the YMCA. On the course, there are restrooms across from the water station in Lytle park.
Strollers are allowed on the 5k and 10k course! Participants using strollers and runners alike should remain mindful of the speed bumps through Lytle Park, other potential hazards, and other runners/walkers along the course.
Pets are not allowed on the 5k/10k, but are allowed on the 1 mile Fun Run!
Results and Awards
All finishers will receive a finisher's medal.
The deadline for a guaranteed shirt is June 30. Shirts will be first come first serve for those who registered after the deadline.
We will have awards for the top 3 in each age group for both the 5k and the 10k.
Results will be posted both on this page under the results tab and on the Mattoon YMCA website.
Weather and Safety
Headphones are allowed on the course, but not recommended for safety. Our volunteers do their best to redirect traffic, but the race is on open streets. We want you to be able to look and listen to what is around you.
Mitchell Jerden EMS will be on site to administer first aid to anyone who needs it. Additionally, we have Y staff who are first aid certified on hand. Please call the YMCA with your location and we will get someone there to help!
Generally we will only cancel for lightning.
Be prepared for this one to be warm. Heat advisories are common during mid-July. We start at 6:30 to try and beat the heat!
Packet Pickup
Packet Pickup will be available from 10a-7p on Friday, July 17.
We will also have packet pickup on race day from 5:30a-6:00a.
Yes. Make sure the person picking up your packet has your registration confirmation at the time of pickup so we can confirm we are giving out the correct packet(s).
