Race Course Attendant (5k/10k)

ASSIGNMENT: Race Course Attendant
WHAT TO BRING: Cell phone, water, lawn chair if desired to wait for runners.
DIRECTIONS:
• Create a safe event by controlling traffic to allow runners & walkers safe passage through the course.
• Give direction to participants based on your location on the course. A map has been provided along with specific directions below.
• Identify participants who may be off course and help direct them back to the course
• Remain standing and visible while on the job.
• Be vocal and encourage runners along the way (shout runners’ direction, clap, “great job!”, etc.)
• You may stop vehicles that will interfere with the race and runners’ safety.

Packet Pickup (Friday) Low Priority

At least 3 more volunteers needed.

ASSIGNMENT: Race Packet Pickup
DIRECTIONS:
Before Packet Pickup Starts
• Organize race packets (bib numbers, shirts, safety pins, swag) alphabetically or by bib number
• Greet participants and direct them to the correct line or station
• Look up registrations by name or bib number
• Verify participant identity if required
• Hand out race packets and explain what’s included
• Distribute T-shirts in the correct sizes
• Answer basic questions
• Help clean up and pack leftover materials

Refreshments Medium Priority

Details

Pre race: Mix Gatorade in jug, re-fill cooler jug when needed. Place water bottles in
trough with ice provided. Arrange bagels, bananas, cream cheese & jellies on
refreshment tables. Post race: Pass out bagels, keep area clean.

Race Course Attendant (Fun Run)

At least 6 more volunteers needed.

ASSIGNMENT: Finish Line Support
DIRECTIONS:
• Prepare medals, water, snacks, and cooling supplies
• Cheer on and encourage participants as they finish
• Guide runners through the finish chute to keep traffic moving smoothly
• Hand out medals, water, towels, or snacks
• Direct runners to post-race areas (refreshments, results board, medical tent)
