ABOUT THE CHALLENGE

 
WHAT IS THE HOKA ONE ONE RUN THE L CHALLENGE?

The Run the L Challenge is a virtual challenge to run, walk, bike, or wheel 131 miles in 8 weeks. 131 miles* is the total distance of Chicago's elevated public transit system. 

*We rounded a few lines to make for even distances.

WHEN IS THE CHALLENGE?

The challenge starts on Monday, March 22, 2021, and ends on Sunday, May 16, 2021.

HOW MANY TIMES CAN I COMPLETE EACH LINE?

You have officially completed the challenge when you complete the mileage required for each respective line and finish 131 miles in total. You may see your progress on your personal Results page. If you'd like to go above and beyond (wow!!), you may absolutely continue adding mileage. There is no limit to the number of miles you can log within the 8 weeks. We have even added additional badges for you over-achievers!

IS THERE A SPECIFIC APP I NEED TO USE TO TRACK MY MILES? 

You may track your miles with any app, watch, or fitness device that you would like.

CAN I USE A TREADMILL OR A STATIONARY BIKE? 

Yes, you may!

CAN I BIKE?

Yes! For the Spring Edition of this challenge, we've added a Bike option! You must sign up for the L Challenge Bike. 

WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BIKE AND WHEEL?

L Challenge Wheel is for athletes logging their miles using wheelchairs, handcycles, and pushrims. 

MAY I MIX AND MATCH THE RUN AND BIKE OPTIONS?

No. Since they are separate challenges, you may only run/walk the L Challenge and bike the L Challenge Bike.

WHEN WILL I RECEIVE MY CHALLENGE BOX?

We will begin mailing Challenge Boxes in June 2021 to the address you provided during registration. The Challenge Box will be mailed to everyone who starts the challenge.

WILL YOU SHIP CHALLENGE BOXES INTERNATIONALLY?

We highly encourage you to use a U.S. address during registration to which we'll ship your Challenge Box. Note: international shipments will come at an additional cost to the participant. The International Shipping Fee is $30. We will only ship the package once and are not responsible for any lost or unreceived packages.

 

RELAY TEAM FAQS

 

HOW DOES THE RELAY REGISTRATION WORK? 

If you want to complete this challenge with a friend, you can sign up as a Relay Team. The captain registers first for the Relay option using "Create a Team" paying the full team entry cost. The teammate then uses the "Join the Team" option, choosing the Team Name that the captain created. 

HOW DO WE SPLIT THE 131 MILES? 

You may choose to split the 131 miles in half or however you'd like!

DO WE EACH RECEIVE A CHALLENGE BOX? 

Yes! You will each be able to submit your mailing address when you register.

DO WE EACH RECEIVE A FINISHER MEDAL?

Yes, if your team logs 131 miles! You will each earn a finisher medal as long as your team completes 131 miles.

 

ACCOUNT MANAGEMENT FAQS

 

HOW DO I DOWNLOAD MY BIB?

Click here to visit your Profile. From there, you will see "View Digital Bib" on the right panel of your registration for this event. You must be logged into your RSU account to access this. You do not need to wear a bib during this Challenge.

HOW DO I RESEND MY CONFIRMATION EMAIL?

RunSignUp allows you to access your registration through your Profile. From there you can resend your confirmation email if you have misplaced it, or if you have not received it. 

Note: If you did not receive your confirmation make sure to check your Spam/Clutter folders.

You will always be able to resend the registration confirmation for any registrations associated with your Profile (including any sub-accounts of yours) by following these steps:

  1. Sign In to RunSignUp
  2. Go to your Profile
  3. See your events under Upcoming Events
  4. Click Resend Confirmation next to the registration that you would like to resend the confirmation email.
  5. Check the email listed in your Profile for your registration confirmation

Click Resend Confirmation next to the registration that you would like to resend the registration confirmation.

At that point, the confirmation email will be sent to the email address associated with that registration. If the original confirmation message did not send because you had a typo in an email address, you will need to update this information as explained in How to Correct Typo/Modify Profile.

HOW DO I RESET MY RSU PASSWORD? 

If you ever happen to forget your password, simply open up the “Login”, and click Forgot Password? At this point, you can enter in the email address you use to access your RunSignup account, and click on the button labeled Send Reset Password Link

After clicking the “Reset Password” button, you will receive an email with a unique link allowing you to reset the password for your RunSignUp account.

HOW CAN I UPDATE MY SHIPPING ADDRESS?
  • Go to your Profile
  • See your events under Upcoming Events
  • Click on "Manage Registration"
  • Click on "Shipping" at the top of the page and update your shipping address
  • The deadline to update your Shipping Address is May 16, 2021

 

MILE SUBMISSION FAQS

 
HOW DO I SUBMIT MY MILES?

Click here to visit your Profile. From there, you will see "Submit Virtual Results" and other options on the right panel of your registration for this event. You must be logged into your RSU account to access this. Miles must be logged within the challenge time frame of March 22, 2021 to May 16, 2021. You can track your distance with a number of different phone apps (Strava, Garmin Connect, etc.), your watch, or your favorite fitness device. You can log daily or weekly, as the platform will track your progress and will let you know when you have reached the 131 mile goal. We will provide detailed instructions in March!

DO I NEED TO SUBMIT PROOF OF MY MILES?

No, this virtual challenge is based on the honor system. Due to the manual nature of submitting your results, we request that you uphold the integrity of our sport and submit only results that are honest and accurate to the best of your ability. Race staff reserves the right to request proof for any result submission.

 

REFERRAL REWARDS FAQS

 
WHAT IS THE REFERRAL PROGRAM?

For every 3 friends who use your referral link to register, you will receive a refund of $15 credited back to you. The maximum refund amount is $75 for the solo challenge and $120 for the 2-person relay. 

WHAT ARE THE RULES?

The referral has to sign up with your unique referral link. We cannot apply a referral link to any accounts after registration. 

HOW DO I FIND MY REFERRAL LINK?

After you register, you will receive your unique referral link in your confirmation email as well as on the confirmation page screen. You may also resend your confirmation email through your Profile. You may also view your Referral Links here.
