Welcome!
We’re excited to welcome you to the first ever SORVA Race Against the Clock! Race day is looking fabulous with a cool start to the morning, sunny skies, and a daytime high of 74.
Packet Pickup
Packet Pickup will be at the Blue Ridge Racing/SORVA Race Against the Clock tent at Go Fest on Friday from 5pm-8pm. Onsite registration will be available there as well. Our tent will be located on Franklin Rd right next to Fleet Feet and across from the porta-johns.
Saturday packet pickup will be available at the starting area, on Belleview at Walnut Ave. for GPS directions, use 1202 Belleview Ave as the address.
Parking
Race day parking is available at River's Edge North and Wiley Drive. The course is also less than one mile from the festival grounds, so parking in the downtown garages is also an option. From River's Edge, simply follow the Roanoke River Greenway to Piedmont Ave (just before going under the Walnut Ave bridge), and you'll find our staging area right there across from the Star Mart convenience store. Do NOT park in the convenience store parking lot.
Start Times
Start times are posted here. This document will be updated periodically through Friday. Anyone registering on site on Saturday will be told their start time at registration.
Starting Lineup
Before each category starts, we will ask you to line up at the starting line so you can start on time. This event is chip timed. If you miss your designated start time, you will be allowed to start after everyone else in the category has started. Please make every effort to be on time!
The Course
The Course is the same for all divisions. Course marshals will be stationed at each turn, and red route arrows will be on the pavement marking the course. A course map can be found here.
Finish
The finish line will be almost at the end of the path that leads to the star ⭐️ in Mill Mountain Park. This is right where the climb tops out and just before the overlook. There will be a large finish arch there with the timing mat- you won’t miss it. Once you finish, take a moment to catch your breath, then make your way back to the start area the same way that you came up. We’ll have your finishers medal at the bottom. When descending the mountain, please take care to yield to the other racers and cheer them on- that’s part of the fun!
Photos
Be sure to smile! Jay Proffitt will be out there taking photos of you conquering the mountain! They will be available to download for free after the race. We’ll let you know when they’re up.
Awards
Awards will be given to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Male and Female and 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Masters Male and Female in each category, courtesy of our partners at SORVA, Fleet Feet Roanoke, Hoka and Cardinal Bicycle. Also, we have the Middle Moooover award to the person in each division (3 total) who is the finisher in the middle of the pack- thanks to Blue Cow Ice Cream! Awards ceremony, including raffle prize giveaways will be at the Mast General Campfire Stage, back at Go Fest, at noon. The Campfire stage will be in upper Elmwood, near the corner of Elm & Jefferson.
Medals
We have medals for every finisher! We'll hold your medals at the starting area (because who wants to ride or run down the mountain with a medal banging around your neck?), so be sure to stop back by to get your medal. Wear your medal at Go Fest the rest of the day to show that you conquered Mill Mountain!
Swag
Back at Go Fest, be sure to stop by the Cardinal Bicycle booth for a sample of Muc Off! Bike cleaner. Just show them your bib. SORVA is doing a booth takeover on Saturday 1-5 and Sunday 12-4 at the Blue Ridge Racing booth. Stop by there to win a prize! Fleet Feet Roanoke will be located right next to the Blue Ridge Racing tent- be sure to stop there and see what all they have to offer.
