In consideration of being permitted to participate in the Spirit Walk, I acknowledge that participation in a long-distance walking event involves inherent risks. These risks may include, but are not limited to, falls; uneven or slippery surfaces; road and street crossings; interaction with motor vehicles, bicycles, other participants and other trail users; weather conditions; heat or cold; fatigue; dehydration; illness; injury; and other conditions encountered along the route.
I voluntarily assume the risks associated with my participation and accept responsibility for determining whether I am physically capable of participating in the distance I have selected. I understand that I may stop participating at any time if I believe continuing would be unsafe.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, I release and hold harmless Mundo Esperanza, Inc., the Spirit Walk event organizers, RunSignup, sponsors, volunteers, participating organizations, and their respective officers, directors, employees, agents and representatives from claims arising from the ordinary risks associated with my voluntary participation in the event, except to the extent such release is prohibited by applicable law.
In the event of illness, injury or a medical emergency during the event, I authorize event personnel to contact emergency medical services or obtain reasonable emergency assistance when circumstances warrant. I understand that I am responsible for medical and transportation expenses incurred on my behalf.
I agree to follow event instructions, traffic laws, trail rules, posted signs and reasonable safety directions from event organizers and volunteers. I understand that portions of the Spirit Walk may take place on public roads, sidewalks, paths and recreational trails that remain open to other users and that event organizers cannot control all conditions encountered along the route.
I grant Mundo Esperanza, Inc. and the Spirit Walk permission to use photographs, video or other recordings of me made during the event for legitimate nonprofit, educational, promotional and event-related purposes, unless I notify the event organizer otherwise in writing.
I understand that event routes, schedules or other details may be modified when reasonably necessary because of weather, safety concerns, emergencies or circumstances beyond the organizers' control. I understand the event's stated cancellation and refund policies applicable to my registration.
By registering, I acknowledge that I have read and understand this waiver and voluntarily agree to its terms. If the participant is under 18 years of age, a parent or legal guardian must agree to this waiver on the participant's behalf.
