In consideration of my participation in Estes Park Skijor (the “Event”), I, the undersigned participant, intending to be legally bound, hereby waive, release, and forever discharge any and all rights and claims for damages, injuries, or losses that I may have against the Event Director, RunSignup.com, the Town of Estes Park, Estes Park Western Heritage, Estes Park Skijor, Running Wild Events, AK Events llc, their officers, agents, contractors, sponsors, volunteers, employees, and all other persons or entities associated with this event (collectively, the “Released Parties”), arising out of or in connection with my participation in the Event, whether occurring before, during, or after the Event. This release is binding upon my heirs, executors, administrators, and assigns.

ASSUMPTION OF RISK
I acknowledge and fully understand that skijoring is an inherently dangerous sport involving significant risks of serious injury or death. These risks include, but are not limited to, falls, collisions with horses, riders, obstacles, equipment failure, adverse weather conditions, and the actions or negligence of other participants, spectators, or third parties. I knowingly and voluntarily assume all such risks, both known and unknown, and accept full responsibility for my participation in the Event.

RELEASE OF LIABILITY
I agree that none of the Released Parties shall be held liable for any injury, loss, damage, or expense, including personal injury or property damage, that I may suffer as a result of my participation in the Event, whether arising from negligence or otherwise. I further release and discharge the Released Parties from any and all actions, claims, demands, or causes of action that my family, estate, heirs, or legal representatives may have in connection with my participation.

MEDICAL AUTHORIZATION
 In the event of illness, injury, or a medical emergency during the Event, I authorize the Event Director, medical personnel, or their designees to secure medical care and treatment deemed necessary for my immediate health and safety. I accept full financial responsibility for any medical services, including but not limited to transportation, treatment, medication, and hospitalization.

MEDIA RELEASE 
I grant permission to the Event and its authorized agents to use my name, voice, image, likeness, and race results in photographs, videos, publications, broadcasts, or any other media for promotional and legitimate purposes, without compensation.

REFUND & EVENT MODIFICATION POLICY
I understand and agree that all entry fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. The Event reserves the right to postpone, cancel, or modify the event due to circumstances beyond its control—including but not limited to severe weather, emergencies, safety concerns, or other acts beyond the organizers’ control—without obligation to issue refunds. Event details are subject to change without prior notice.

CODE OF CONDUCT
All participants must adhere to the following standards of conduct to ensure safety, fairness, and respect for all individuals and animals involved in the Event. Failure to comply with these policies may result in immediate removal from the Event without refund, at the sole discretion of the Event organizers.

Substance Use Policy 
I acknowledge and agree that I will not consume, nor be under the influence of, alcohol, illegal drugs, or any impairing substances while participating in the Event. I understand that doing so may increase the risks of injury to myself and others, and I accept full responsibility for complying with this requirement. I further agree that violation of this policy, including choosing to participate while under the influence, will result in my immediate removal from the Event without refund. I acknowledge and agree that the Event organizers shall have sole discretion to determine whether I am in violation of this policy, and their decision shall be final and binding.

Reckless or Dangerous Conduct Policy
I agree to conduct myself in a safe and responsible manner at all times during the Event. I understand that reckless, aggressive, or dangerous behavior—including but not limited to endangering horses, riders, spectators, or other participants—may result in my immediate removal from the Event without refund. I acknowledge and agree that the Event organizers shall have sole discretion to determine whether my conduct violates this policy, and their decision shall be final and binding.

Compliance with Instructions
I agree to follow all instructions, rules, and directions given by Event staff, officials, and volunteers. I understand that failure to comply with such instructions may compromise safety and fairness, and may result in my immediate removal from the Event without refund. I acknowledge and agree that the Event organizers shall have sole discretion to enforce this policy, and their decision shall be final and binding.

General Conduct Clause
I acknowledge and agree that any other conduct deemed unsafe, inappropriate, or disruptive by the Event organizers may result in my immediate removal from the Event without refund. I understand that the Event organizers shall have sole discretion to determine whether my conduct violates this clause, and their decision shall be final and binding.

ACKNOWLEDGMENT OF UNDERSTANDING By submitting this digital entry, I acknowledge that I have read and fully understand this waiver and release of liability. I understand that I am giving up substantial legal rights, including the right to sue, and I agree to these terms freely and voluntarily. If the participant is under 18 years of age, a parent or legal guardian must agree to this waiver on their behalf.
