RunFit Kidz

FAQs

Where does my child meet their class or coach?

Your child's head coach will send a welcome email before the first class with all the details, including the meeting location and any important program information.

Do I need to volunteer?

Yes. Each family is asked to volunteer once per session. You'll receive access to a sign-up tool where you can choose your preferred volunteer shift.

Will my child run in the rain or bad weather?

Yes. Running in light rain is part of the training experience. However, we will never hold practice during dangerous weather, including thunder, lightning, ice, or extreme winds. Weather decisions are made on a case-by-case basis. If you prefer to keep your child home, please notify your coach before practice.

Is there an indoor location if the weather turns bad?

Sometimes. If weather becomes unsafe during practice, we may move inside the school or end practice early and notify families. Some schools have access to a gym or other indoor space, while others do not. Indoor availability depends on the individual school.

Do I need to register my child separately for the 5K?

No. Every child enrolled in the RunFit Kidz program is automatically registered for the end-of-season 5K.

What will my credit card statement show?

Your payment will appear as a charge from RunSignup, our registration platform, not RunFit Kidz.

Can I run the 5K with my child without registering?

No. For insurance and liability reasons, everyone participating on the course must be officially registered and wear a race bib.

I'm not a runner. Do I have to run with my child?

No. Parents are not required to run. If your child is comfortable participating independently, you're welcome to cheer from the sidelines.

I'm worried about my child running alone during the race. Will there be volunteers?

Yes. The course is staffed with numerous volunteers and police officers to guide participants, keep everyone safe, and provide assistance as needed.

Does my child need to be able to run a mile before joining?

No. RunFit Kidz is designed for children of all fitness levels. Throughout the season, participants gradually build endurance and confidence through a combination of running and walking.

I'd like to train for the 5K so I can run with my child. What do you recommend?

=PR= Training Programs offers training programs for beginners and experienced runners alike. Visit our training programs page to find the option that's right for you.

Why does the registration cost differ from previous years?

Previous seasons added a processing fee during checkout. Our current pricing includes those fees upfront, creating a simpler, all-inclusive registration experience. Some schools may also include a small PTA/PTO administrative fee that is collected on their behalf.
