20 years? Here's what happened!
We're excited that not only are we celebrating the 20th Anniversary of the Run for A Vet Race but that it also coincides with the 250th Anniversary of our Nation!!
So what has happened in 20 years? So glad you asked.
- We tried our best to keep the event local, affordable, and fun while donating monies to northwoodsian veteran charities. We have located over $100,000 to local Veteran charities or Veteran-related organizations and projects.
- We worked hard to incorporate local businesses and area sponsors to form a lovely community bond with the Race.
- We've had over 1,500 people participate in 20 years..
- Our first year (2006), we thought (if lucky) we'd get 50 people in the race and we got 80! In 2025, we had 226 participants.
- We have kept track of runners or walkers per year and 5K times for the runners. If you want to see your time/year, contact us. We'll send you a summary!
- The entry costs have remained nearly the same.
- In the first few years, race notification and registration was done with paper and mail. Things have changed for sure!
