What a great way to start any 4th of July by supporting northern Wisconsin area veterans or veteran organizations AND getting outside for a walk or run! This event really checks the boxes for an outdoor 5K run or 1-mile fun run/walk in the north woods. Join us for this morning's adventure. So, get let's gather with your friends and family! Events take place at the MECCA trail system in Mercer, Wisconsin.
Purpose
Your contributions, participation, donations and generosity support those courageous individuals who make the sacrifice for the sake of freedom. This year’s primary charity is the Never Forgotten Honor Flight. The Never Forgotten Honor Flight is a Not-For-Profit Organization providing Veterans with gratitude, respect, and/or closure by flying them to Washington D.C. to visit their memorials. The Never Forgotten Honor Flight hub serving Mercer, Iron County is out of Wausau and Superior. Monetary donations will go toward the cost of sponsoring a selected veteran (from within the Never Forgotten’s application list) from the hub area. Priority is given to terminally ill veterans; followed by veterans serving before May 7, 1975. This trip is free for the veteran!
Additional proceeds may be given to Northwoods Veteran’s Homestead and upgrades at the Mercer Cemetary for veteran's headstones and memorials.
