UPDATED 5K COURSE MAP
As many of you are aware, the Town of Davis is currently undertaking gas line, water line, and paving projects that are affecting our original racecourse for the Run For It event. We have participated in several meetings with town staff and engineers overseeing these projects. Out of an abundance of caution, we have decided to re-route the 5K racecourse to ensure the safety of all participants.
Please find the updated 5K Course Map below. Note that this map is for the 5K race only. The course is marked with two colors for clarity: dark green arrows indicate Lap #1 of the 5K, while light green arrows represent Lap #2. Please note that Lap #1 ends and Lap #2 begins at the corner of Second Street and Thomas Avenue, as shown on the map. To assist participants, the 5K racecourse will be clearly marked with green chalk and green signage, and course marshals will be stationed along the route to ensure all racers follow the designated 5K course.
Re-routing the course while maintaining the 5K distance of 3.1 miles has been challenging. Unfortunately, this year’s 5K racecourse is only 3.03 miles. Therefore, please note that this year’s 5K will not be USATF-certified due to this change.
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience or confusion this alteration may cause our participants. We will share this information on our Run For It Facebook page, at runsignup.com/Race/WV/Davis/RunForIt, and on the Tucker Community Foundation website at tuckerfoundationwv.org. Copies of the rerouted 5K racecourse will also be available during packet pick-up at the Davis Fire Hall on Friday, September 26th, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., and Saturday, September 27th, from 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
We are here to answer any questions or address any concerns you may have. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us at (304) 478-2930 or runforit@tuckerfoundationwv.org. Thank you for your understanding.
