About Road to Mafraq
Road to Mafraq partners with grassroots movements to increase access to education for children impacted by conflict in the Middle East. Our current efforts focus on supporting Syrian and Iraqi refugees living in Jordan.
Over 13 million children across the Middle East have had their education disrupted due to violent conflict. That's why we're working to increase access to education for children whose dreams have been caught in the crossfire of war across Syria, Iraq, and elsewhere in the Middle East by helping to fund educational initiatives for refugee children. Our focus includes funding the development, maintenance, and expansion of schools and extra-curricular educational programming serving refugee children.
We invest intentionally in programs that, in addition to their traditional academic curriculum, teach children healthy confilct-resolution skills and facilitate peace building across different religious and national identities. Because many of these children have witnessed violence as a means of conflict-resolution, it is important to teach them healthy approaches to resolving peer-to-peer conflict from a young age, equipping them to be peaceful and effective leaders in their families, communities, and nations as they grow.
