Event Questions
I’d love to come! Where and when?
Seattle Kraken 5K will be hybrid. Choose to join us in person at Greenlake Park in Seattle, WA on October 3rd, or join virtually from anywhere.
Where should I park?
There are limited parking lots within Greenlake Park, or there is street parking. Please allow enough time to find a parking spot. Consider carpooling, taking public transit, biking, walking, or getting dropped off.
The best way to park and get to the race is by using our race day shuttles from Kraken Community Iceplex:
- We will have shuttles running continuously from Kraken Community Iceplex (10601 5th Ave NE, Seattle, WA 98125), to Greenlake. Starting at 7:30am through 1:00pm. There is abundant parking at Northgate Station or you can take light rail and hop on the shuttle.
- There is a park and ride at the corner of 65th Ave NE and NE Ravenna Blvd, just a short walk to the start.
- The number 20 bus takes 10 minutes from Northgate, where there is plenty of parking. The first bus leaves Northgate at 6:11am. The latest bus you can take in order to get to Greenlake on time would be the 8:42am bus from Northgate.
- If you don't mind a bit of a warm up and cool down walk, there are lots of parking lots on the other side of the lake, nearest the boat house.
What distance can I run/walk?
In-person race is a 5K distance, 3.1 miles. The kids dash will be roughly a quarter mile. The virtual you can run any distance you choose but to be considered for the official results, you can complete 3.1 miles.
Will there be a time limit?
No, we are there until the last person finishes!
Will everyone start at once?
No, we will start in waves. Waves will be 5 minutes apart to minimize crowding on the trail. You can choose your wave start time in the sign up process. Our first wave is reserved for anyone planning to run 8:00 minute per mile pace, or under. Our last wave will be reserved for all of our awesome walkers. Wave 2 is for our dedicated Season Ticket Holders. All other waves are open to any running pace.
We will have 9 wave start times to choose from:
9:30am - 5K start - Wave 1 - under 8:00 minute per mile pace
9:35am - 5K start - Wave 2 - Season Ticket Holders Wave
9:40am - 5K start - Wave 3
9:45am - 5K start - Wave 4
9:50am - 5K start - Wave 5
9:55am - 5K start - Wave 6

Are strollers allowed?
Yes, we just ask that you line up at the back of the starting area of your assigned corral.
Can I inline skate the course?
Unfortunately due to insurance issues inline skating will not be allowed.
Will there be a gear check?
Yes, we will have a gear check tent, but please do not plan on leaving any valuables. We are not responsible for lost or stolen items.
Are dogs allowed?
Yes, if they are well-behaved and on a short leash. We ask that you line up at the back of the starting area.
Where should I do my run/walk if I sign up for the virtual option?
While the in-person option is a 5K run/walk, the virtual option can be whatever distance works for you. Find a route that is a safe place to run or walk with good sidewalks. Check out your neighborhood or visit a new one. To be added to the official Seattle Kraken 5K results please run or walk a distance as close to 3.1 as possible.
What if I can’t run or walk on October 3?
Sign up for the virtual option and run/walk whenever works for your schedule. Unfortunately we cannot offer any refunds. Packets will not be mailed if you miss the in-person event. You can switch to the virtual event up until September 16th.
Do you need volunteers?

How does the Kid’s Dash work?
The Kid’s Dash is open to all kids under age 12. It is a free event but we ask that you sign up your little ones so we know how many to plan for.
