The Toledo Walleye are a professional ice hockey team based in Toledo, Ohio, and compete in the ECHL (formerly the East Coast Hockey League). This highly popular Central Division team plays its home games at the Huntington Center downtown. The Walleye serve as the official ECHL affiliate for the NHL's Detroit Red Wings and the AHL's Grand Rapids Griffins, making them a vital step in the player development pipeline for the Detroit organization. While the team was founded in 2009, the franchise's history stretches back to 1991 when they were known as the Toledo Storm.
