FAQ

Is there a minimum fitness level to participate? 

 

  • Participants should be able to at least run/walk 1.5 comfortably prior to starting.

 

Can I bring my dog to group runs? 

 

  • For the safety all participants and pets, dogs- even on leash- are not allowed

 

Can I bring my kids or stroller? 

 

  • This training program is designed for adult women. Strollers are allowed at all She Trains GR group runs, however, children need to either be secured in a stroller during the runs, or must be 16 and older and registered individually to participate

 

What will be provided on the Saturday running routes? 

 

  • Water stops every few miles to refill your hydration pack or water bottle
  • Route guides stationed on the route to provide support for participants as needed

 

How will I know the route? 

 

  • All routes will be provided via Strava. Strava is a run community app that can be downloaded on both Apple and Android products. Only turnaround points will be signed.

 

What equipment do I need to be able to participate? 

 

  • In addition to the shoes and apparel you’ll need to stay comfortable on your runs, all participants are required to carry their own hydration vessel on group runs, to maintain our priority of limiting waste. Water refill stations will be available along the route

 

What if I already registered for She Runs GR- how will I get my entry discount? 

 

 

Is this the same as Gazelle Sports Run Camp?

 

  • She Trains GR is a new, intentional training program built with the unique needs of women training for She Runs Grand Rapids Half Marathon. With that in mind, some things may feel familiar to past Run Camp participants, but this is a redesigned program exclusive to this event.

 

What if I have a different fall event that I want to train for, will this group accommodate an adjusted schedule for that? 

 

  • She Trains GR is designed around supporting women who are training for the She Runs GR Half Marathon. In order to maintain consistency and community, registrants will follow the same training schedule.

 

How will communications be sent?

 

  • Participants will receive a weekly email on Mondays with the group run location, link to the Strava route, and note from coach Sammie B.  Emails will be sent from shetrainsgr@gazellesports.com so make sure to check your spam if you do not receive emails.

 

What training plans will I be following?

 

  • The training plans have been carefully created by RRCA Level I certified running coach Sammie Bennett.  The program is designed with the needs of women in mind- physiological, emotional, and community.  There are three training plans to choose from: Beginner, Maintain, and Sub 2-Hour. Your training plan will be emailed to you.
